Possible Plane for Pulp
« on: August 21, 2025, 11:01:12 PM »
I bought this toy yesterday and it seems to me about right for 28mm which is what the figure in the photo is. Needs a repaint but otherwise it seems quite suitable for pulp or maybe VBCW.

What do you think?

It looks fine for pulp. I got a 1/48 Polikarpov for A VBCW. This looks like the biplane early version.

Looks good to me.  :D

Indeed, that certainly has potential. How easy would it be to make thinner wing supports?

Works. Of course, you tease us by not saying -which- shop it was sold at!

Polikarpov was my first reflex answer there as well  :D

That has a lot of potential. I wonder how hard would it be to replace those wing struts with something a bit more aerodynamical?
Miniatures you say? Well I too, like to live dangerously...

Good point. I haven't had time to look at it seriously but I suspect it wouldn’t be impossible.

Apologies. I bought it in a shop in Bridport and it’s marketed by Kandy Toys of Exeter. They are the distributor/importer. Here’s a link to the shop. They do mail order and this link is for these planes. There’s also a low wing monoplane.

Too kind, sir!

I see their ‘Oxford Die-Cast range has some useful vehicles, too.

I'd be tempted to take the top wing off and make it into a monoplane. Great find.  :-*

Understand about the struts being thinner but I think it works as is and being die cast not sure I'd mess with that.  Definitely keep it as a biplane - just that extra bit of character.  Just need to have the right backstory behind it.

They make a monoplane as well

I agree about the struts - I’m happy with them. I’ve taken out the motor and rubber wheels because, although it’s fun to pull the model back then watch it go with the prop spinning, that level of fun isn’t required in a game :D
