Wargaming at Sutton Hoo

I accompanied James, Annie, Oz and Pete to Sutton Hoo to play games of Mead Price to entertain visitors.









Many games were played, models were painted and much fun was had.

We played about 18 games over the weekend (Mead Price plays fast) with honours even between the two sides.

The terrain is all James work - the "hillfort" was made especially for this game

Never heard of the rules, really nice photos of the games.

But none of Sutton Hoo!   

I guess I'll survive, got to see a bunch of items in the British Museum last year, uber cool for an archaeology geek.

Mead Price is a free (very) fast play set of rules James Morris wrote for this event. They have a little in common with Midgard, but are greatly simplified to a couple of pages - not sophisticated but ideal for getting excited youngsters to roll dice and shout hurrah!

This year we actually stayed in Tranmer House on site, so were able to go for a wander around the mounds as the sun was setting.
Annie got up very early and took some sunrise pictures of the mounds showing off some of her Bad Squiddo range. It's a magical place.
