Oh yes thats a very nice type of terrain we don't see nearly enough of! I think the name "mossrock fantasy" was bandied about for a while, feels fitting.

I do wonder if a bit of deadfall on top of the flatter rocks wouldn't help tie them into the ground more? Its definitely something I see in your reference images.

Thanks! Definitely planning on adding some dead fall and leaves, plus hopefully some ferns and other plants. Like most of my projects, this one is table ready and will get more details as I get to them

:o :o

Superb, and inspiring, thanks.

I don't know this place, but if you wish to add a deep valley with a stream or small river below they are such places in Brittany, one large one in Huelgoat and some others. They are called "chaos granitique" in French (granite blockfield?)

Thanks!

Those pictures are very inspiring. I didn't know about this type of terrain, will have to see what's possible

Off to a great start. I should probably plan my terrain sizing for storage better, but sometimes I get so focused on effect I forget that it has to be stored on a shelf or in a box somewhere...!  lol

Oh yes, all this planning was because of so much failure before. I actually heavily edited my hellscape to make it store better  - knocking the high points off. I plan to move them to smaller bases.

Very nice work.

What a great idea  :-*

I was scared at first by the mathematics, but the mossy stones look great. Be very interesting to see how it turns out complete with gnarly trees.

Nice work  8)

All open lock bases are from here:
https://www.printablescenery.com/product/open-lock/

I've modified them in FreeCAD to create the height and hollow out the centre

The mossy rocks are awesome, look exactly how imagined Mirkwood floor would be when I read The Hobbit back in 1980!
