Taisho Coupe, a Tabletop Japanese Automobile (Commercial)
« on: 01 October 2025, 12:56:12 PM »
Ride in style with an early Japanese coupe! Based on the 1925 Otomo-go, our Taisho Coupe is a compact car from the Roaring Twenties sure to cut a distinct figure on your gaming table.

The Otomo-go (also Automo-go) was built by car maker Hakuyosha and was the culmination of four year’s work. In August 1924, company founder Toyokawa Junya made a 40 hour non-stop drive between Tokyo and Osaka before christening it “Otomo-go.” It entered the Japanese market in the fall and the following year was exported to Shanghai, becoming the first exported Japanese domestic car in the process. A special single-seat version won 2nd place in Tokyo’s 8th Auto Race on Dec. 6, 1925. (I guess stock car racing was popular on both sides of the Pacific…)

Approximately 300 Otomo-go cars were built before the small automaker went out of business in 1928, following Ford and Chevrolet’s entrance to the Japanese market. A replica is on display in the National Museum of Nature and Science in Tokyo’s Ueno Park.

You can buy one from our webstore for $15 here: https://www.wayfarerdaves.com/sakuragi-shoten/
Miniatures are 3D-printed and sold unpainted.

We have both right and left-hand side drive versions and all coupes are sold with interchangeable raised and lowered roofs.

Nice model.  Windscreen color choice - interesting.  Link seems to be broken however.
