Early Automobile
« on: 07 February 2010, 01:20:14 AM »
I like to do Wild West gaming and have decided to combine it with an ON-30 Train Lay-out.  I was thinking that my lay-out will represent ~1900 and was looking for a suitable cicra 1900 automobile for the lay-out and cowboy gaming.  I am not interested in Model-T since they are closer to 1910.  I know the shootist features a 1904 Oldsmobile.  Any hints for locating a 28mm beauty like that or similar ilk?  Thanks.

Jimmy

Thanks for the links to the pictures...looks like a great game. Your figures look awesome. Good luck finding an old 1904 automobile.

Glencoe models makes a pack of 2 cars in 1/48 scale that should work.

I'm glad to see people being more open on the old west period. As a kid growing up one fellow used to tell me tails about being a driver for a railroad detective hunting Kid Curry. I never believed him because at that age cars just din't fit with the my Hollywood inspired perception of the old west.

All,

That picture is exactly the kind of car I was looking cor.  Especially thanks for the tip on Glencoe Models.  I just bought off ebay a 1903 Caddy and a 1900 Packard.  Also found a Stanley Steamer and Pace Arrow (for a little later in the era).

Christmas present was an ON30 Bachman Denver & Rio Grande Railroad set (inspired from the R&R photos on this forum).

I plan to set-up a permanet western lay-out with two border towns separated by the imposing mountain ridge.  The buildings will be portable so that they can travel off-site and I can still play with the Choo-Choo at home.

Thanks for the link.
