The mausoleum is great, simple materials and concept but very, very effective ;D

anumberone,

There are pre-painted photos right here: http://geektactica.blogspot.com/2010/02/workbench-update-grave-matter.html

Thanks for the compliments guys.  I'm in the process of making graves and some more structures.

Wow. Congratulations Jet. That Mausoleum is dead nice.  ;)

(No, seriously, for something built from bits, I love it).

I've starting planning the layout of the cemetery.  Explanations and more close-ups can be found here: http://geektactica.blogspot.com/2010/02/workbench-update-laying-out-graveyard.html

Hopefully it will all be finished within the next few days.

That looks good - what do you use for the road pieces, thin plywood or something?

Excellent; looks like it'll be a real blast to run your campaign over.  I'm enjoying following the blog too.  I hope there will be some tasty battle reports for us to sink our teeth into!

Also, ditto on Wirelizard's question re. the roads.  Given they're so thin, how do you avoid warping?

Nice idea to dremel tracks into plywood for the roads.

The roads are made from faux wood paneling, the kind that's made to look like finished wood.  People often put on the walls of their basements in the 70's and 80's.  I think it's about 4 or 5mm thick.  When my parents bought their current house, my father ripped a bunch of it off of the walls.

It probably looks thinner because i used a dremel tool to bevel the edges.  In fact, if you look at the tree base in the bottom right of the photograph you'll see how thick it is before having the edge ground down.

As for battle reports, they will be happening soon.  Chris has just started painting his British Monster Hunters.  I know that in addition to Intrepid Leader Sir Thrustam Mannleigh, he's painting up Professor Richard Alcock (Dick to his friends) and his dashing young grad student Ms. Emma Poundwood.  :D

But enough chit chat - I'm off to get that cemetery finished.

Don't forget Johann von Durhtflighen, and his fellow Wulfenjager Hans Klapp and Egon Fisching.

And of course, Sir Thrustam's loyal mastiff Rutter. ;)

Today, Chris and I finally played our first learning game of Chaos in Carpathia.  He had just finished painting his first three wulfen jager for his warband.  I pulled out three werewolves, set up the table, and we took the rules for a test run.

For those who are interested more in the atmospheric text of the developing story, see the accompanying post on my site: http://geektactica.blogspot.com/2010/02/wulfen-jager.html

As for the game itself...

Here's the table set-up.  We just threw down a bunch of the terrain I've been working on lately, and the table was suitably scary.

The wulfen jager cross the bridge.

We rolled the "Stygian Darkness" special event.  The hunters suffered movement restrictions and the effective range of their rifles was reduced.  Feeling over-confident, I moved Blackmaw up and he was quickly dispatched by the expert hunter Hans Klapp (Blasted silver bullets!)

Whitemane hid behind a statue, and I was quite impressed with the charging rules.  For those not familiar, CIC allows a model to charge an enemy not in line of sight if a successful Mind goal roll is passed.  Since werewolves have the Sharp Senses ability they have a bonus when making such rolls.

Needless to say, Whitemane found himself in combat, and I learned just how savage werewolves can be in hand-to-hand.

Before long it was an all out brawl.  At close quarters, the werewolves came out on top (no surprise)

In the end, Hans found himself set upon by two werewolves, and our test game ended in a gruesome defeat for the hunters.

Bats in the Belfry.  Chris brought along his bat swarm, so we had to take a photo for posterity sake.

I was pretty sure from reading the rules that I was going to like the Goal System rules, and after trying them we weren't disappointed.  Chris says that the remainder of the monster hunters will be finished by next weekend, and then we will likely start our Horror campaign in earnest.

In the meantime, I'm headed downstairs to paint my forests and to start in on some more models.  As always, I'll keep you posted.

I would very much like to see how your hay or wheat field is constructed.
That's a piece of terrain I need to create myself.

ANy help would be appreciated.
