A moment of bliss

This is not relevant to anything in particular but I so rarely get to paint these days...

Picture the following:

-10 degrees C outside...
...a BLACK night...
...10 PM...
...the family asleep...
...a five log fire roaring in the fireplace...
...a tot of something in a tumbler...
...paints, brushes and water neatly arrayed on the workbench...
...a batch of Wazir chieftains to finish.

There was another Florida chap on LAF who a while ago mentioned that the humidity during certain summer months prevented him from  painting unless he used one of these dohickeys you dry fruit. Is this really so?

I did no such thing! I am proud to say I have about 20 miniatures ready for a photo shoot and about 15 which are in their final stages. Final stages have an annoying tendency to take longer than you expect. Getting metal parts, clasps  and such details, tend towards the end of a batch to frustrate your attempts, don't you agree, to get done with things.

I would, since you are asking with such eagerness, but it seems like the management has turned a unmagnanimous eye on such displays.

The humidity in SE Arkansas is just as unforgiving. I've been able to successfully paint three, count 'em three, figures in the past few months. Even during the winter. We'll get one nice day, and then rain... rain... maybe some ice, and so on. It's irritating.

But man, I could only dream of a night as perfect as as Hammers'. It's usually work, something the fiancee' wants to do, sit through a chick flick or cook, be drug out to have a few beers, come home at 2am, too tired and/or drunk to do anything productive, and so on.

I'm actually looking across the room right now at a paint job that's maybe 15 minutes away from being finished while hearing "it's bed time!".

And so I go...

Exactly why I posted. I hate griping since I love being a husband and father and it is a path I've chosen myself. But sometimes the nerdy bachelor in me silently screams for a moments respite so I can go back to my old habits. Like last night which was lovely. Now it is going back to family activities, which today means going to the museum to build a tower out of fucking spaghetti and glue.

There. I'll shut up now.

Nonsense. Twas a joy to meet Mrs. M. One can't really chastise a gamer's wife for looking for the exit when the unlucky dice stories start.

By the by, I am saving the fruit of last weekend's labour for LPL IV.
