Inks Question for everyone

So, now that GW insists that the only way to paint is base color highlight wash rehighlight, and have pulled their previously very good inks off of the market to replace them with the watered down, smaller pot drivel they call 'washes', I have no source for good quality rich inks that will enhance the colors I am using instead of just fill the low spots...what do you guys use? Any hints? Please?

I use Vallejo inks and Daler Rowney acrylic artists inks.

I'm with you on that one Sinew, my GW ink supply is about to run dry. Two good alternatives there.

Bear in mind that some manufacturers ink colours aren't UV stable and WILL fade (check the really tiny small print on the label).

I swear by Windsor & Newton inks. Very intense. The tend to clog the screw cap and need a drop of water now and then not to dry out but other than that they are the best I know.

I'm another fan of Windsor and Newton. I have to say that although I was initially very skeptical I have found the new GW washes very useful. They don't do the same thing as inks though naturally.

Well, I'll have to look for some of these local here, and see what I can find. The Coat D'Arms I have used, but I do not want to order from overseas, and I can't find a local distributor - I try very hard to let my LGS order my stuff for me when they can. I may hit the local art store for either Windsor or the Daler.

I have used Vallejo in the past, but in my experience, they don't water down well, and thus are not as useful to me.

Yes, I'm glad someone as talented as Orctrader agrees with me  

They are at least as good as the old GW inks and certainly cheaper. Don't know if you can get them in The Land Of The Free, but if not, may well be worth importing from The Land Of Gordon Brown's Cockups.

I've used Daler Rowney FW artist acrylic inks for probably ten years or so and I've been satisfied. Good value, variety, and intensity.

So the Coat d'Arms paints & inks are identical to the older GW ones?

Excellent news, I have a bottle of GW Red Ink that I really like the colour of, but the lid is seized shut! Stupid screwtops. Will have to see if my FLGS can get the stuff, or do an order to Scale Creep. (GW's Red Ink is a very pure red shade; all of the artist's acrylic red inks I've found are too orange-shifted for my taste.)

I mostly use Daler Rowney/FW or Windsor&Newton artist's inks, though. Very nice quality, and a wider range of colours than are available from most of the hobby suppliers.

I too use Winsor&Newton Inks as well as Dr. Martins - which I have used for years for everything from air-brushing to graphic arts. They are lightfast and water resistant when dry. Good stuff.

Sorry to be contrary but according to the small print on my Winsor & Newton ink carton, to quote "only black and white are permanent to light".  I was using W&N Dark Peat but I stopped, just in case, as my figures go into a display case.
