Magumbo Debacle part III: The Exchange... changed!

After the kidnapping of Dr. Lebensräum by the British and the rather unsporting kidnap of Lady Cornwall by the Prussians both sides decide to settle it in a manner befitting of gentlemen and exchange hostages. The place will be General Udo Ubervollgas’ cottage at the outskirts of the German territories.

Lord Cornwall and his stalwart men have already out-witted the secret of dinosaur controlling from Dr. Lebensräum and have no further use for him. Thus they are willing to give him up in exchange for Lady Cornwall. But as they are certain that the Prussians are thinking of double-crossing them, they decide to bring along a contingent of the British army and try to clash the good Ubervollgas at the same time.

General Ubervollgas and the Prussians did, of course, plan to outsmart the Brits, so they have set up the local Prussian army in hiding, to attack the small British patrol they expect to arrive by dawn.

In the meantime Magumbo has also mysteriously returned to the Prussian camp, he has not said a word since he returned, but just kept working with his British prisoners of war. None of the Prussians know how he escaped the British prison, but they don’t dare to ask. One thing is certain though: This mysterious character just keeps getting more and more obsessed with his studies of POWs.

The Brits on the other side have no idea about how he escaped either; he was just gone when they looked in the cell at midnight.

Setup and special circumstances:

6x4’ table

The Prussian camp is by the house of Ubervollgas, with tents and the hut in the middle and the three panzer turrets placed in a row in front of the tents, up to the camp is a road through the jungle.

The Prussians set up with General Ubervollgas and Lady Cornwall by the hut together with Major Klaus Schauensehen, 10 Prussian rifles and one Unobtanium Rifle team is hiding next to the hut, the rest of the troops hide out in the tents or in the jungle.

The British forces are driving up the road with Dr. Lebensräum in the tractor, followed by Lord Cornwall, the Sikh Cavalry and the Augoston Landship, the rest is making its way, in hiding, through the jungle. The Steam Chargers will come as reserve with Mr. Brunell.

What the British do not know is, that Dr. Lebensräum did not quite learn them how to control the dinosaur, so first time it gets shot at with a hit it will start rambling uncontrolled around and attack both Prussian and British forces.

Objectives:

The British must try and free Lady Cornwall, by defeating whoever holds her captive in close combat and bring her out of the table. Also they must try and take out all three panzer turrets, to clear the way for a later take over and obtain the Prussian secret dossiers in the hut.

The Prussians must keep control of Lady Cornwall and try to free Dr. Lebensräum from the tractor, by defeating the tractor lock in close combat. Also they must defend the hut from any entrance of British characters.

The game ends when we feel like it.

British Forces:

Lord Cornwall (hero) (riding dinosaur)
Colonel Sidewall (adventurer)
Lord Hamspam (hero)
Major Henry Bright (adventurer)
10 Loyal Sikh Cavalry
30 Rifles with sergeant
1 Tractor with wagon
Mr. Brunell (adventurer)
2 Light Steam Chargers
1 Augoston Medium Landship
Professer Daniel (adventurer)
Armoured Dinosaur

Prussian Forces:

General Udo Ubervollgas (hero)
Major Klaus Schauensehen (adventurer)
Hans Beitrager (adventurer)
Herr Skratt (adventurer)
30 Prussian Rifles
3 Unobtainium Rifle Teams
3 Steam turrets
Raal Magumbo (hero)
10 British "prisoners of war"

The British approach the house of Ubervollgas. He has specifically demanded that it be built in his native European style in the midst of the Indian jungle.

White coated Prussians are lying in wait. Ready to secure the good doctor and win the day.

Ubervollgas is waiting patiently outside his house conversating gentlemanly with the Lady Cornwall.

Suddenly the jungle erupts in a purple explotion of Unfindbarium rays. The tractor carrying the prisoners explodes.

Strange looking men with a purple hue wearing British uniforms come running out of the jungle attacking ferosiously.

The British ambush party gets ambushed!

They are awestruck by this sudden attack. Many riflemen fall to the ground... hopefully to lie still and not suffer a fate like that of the apparently brainwashed attackers.

The humongous dinosaur that is accompanying the British forces wanders of into the jungle on the command of Professor Daniel.

The Sikhs race to hold the British flank up. They slaughter the rest of the strangely disaffected British POWs.

The fighting is brought to an end in the common fashion of Sikh warring.

Raal Magumbo decides to split while there's still enough Prussians left for him not to be noticed.
Where will this strange man lead us next?

The lone survivor of the British ambush party realises that the "control" exerted by Professor Daniel over the dinosaur creature, is less effective than expected. The beast rampages forward and tramples the good Colonel Sidewall to a bloody pulp.

Meanwhile Lord Hamspam has exited his burning cage of the tractor to find refuge. Unfortunately he finds himself held up by bayonet point soon hereafter. The Dr. Lebensräum is freed and Hamspan is taken prisoner.

More Prussians arrive to the slaughter. Outside the view of our field reporter Lord Cornwall himself is now also taken prisoner!!! Oh my where will this end. The day is a total disaster for the British.

Just to top it off... the dino is still rampaging.

And the Sikhs are mowed down like bowling pins.

The battlefield oozes with the smoke from the tractor.

Carnage!

Carnage!

Grand Moff Ubervollgas laughs indiscretely at the Lady Cornwall and informs her that she will soon be in the company of his Lordship Cornwall again...

Ha ha ha, thank you very much, this was in deed unexpected, the Brits did not plan for that....

I do see a flaw in the army lists though, as the Brits only brought 20 riflemen... the Unobtanium gas commandos should have made up for that, and they would... had they not chosen to flee the battlefield in a most unsportingly manner....

A sad day for the Empire  :'(

Those rascally Prussians will get their come-uppance if there's any justice!

Another fine-looking game and again it looked like great fun to play  :D

The British Empire did (of course) not lose the battle, it was a tactical withdraw, Mr Brunell managed to get back home with most of the steam tech and report to high command.

The Generals just laughed in Mr Brunells face... "of course you "lost" the battle... HA HA HA... that was our plan the whole time, we needed to get rid of that disaster wearing the name Cornwall... HA HA HA.... now we can plan how to deal with Ubervollgas, he is becoming a thorn in our eyes..." ..... "Mr Brunell.... Meet the REAL Lord Cornwall...."

dam da daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.... what will happen next?.... really, what will happen? Thorbjørn?....

Great stuff lads! It's all getting rather messy in Magumbo. I suspect the Queen (Gawd Bless 'Er) will not be amused when she reads the despatches.
Don't!

I suspect that I will have to buy a model of the Queen and make her come over to India to set things straight! :D

Thanks for reading! I like posting reports and getting feedback!

And I'm open to suggestions as to why the debacle is named after Magumbo...  lol

Will there be a fourth and final showdown?!

Well, like all realy evil witch doctors+mad sceintist masterminds, Magumbo has a healthy appetite for world domination. So now that he has learned how to make the dead walk, no loyalties for prussia or mankind can stop him from assembling a massive horde of the living dead (and living dead dinosaurs of course!), and to stop him, Lord Cornwall and General Ubervollgas must put aside thier many many differences, and fight one last battle, fish and chips eating back to sausage eating fat...

Hmm. This has potential. I'm currently doing some new secret miniatures that will suit this very nicely.  lol

Perhas you could be a participant in the coming year Agger?  o_o

Meaning what?  ;D I would like to offer my help in getting VSF running more steadily in Denmark/Jutland, if that's along the line of what you are saying  :)... Right now it seems like it's only you and Jonas pulling the load.
