I *think* they are meant to represent long hunters and Indian traders / scout types, but there is no reason they couldn't be lumped into a group of miliciens.

I like them.I just picked up a copy of "This Very Ground" and the period is really starting to grab me.I've already starting collecting an Indian warband from this company.
