Modern UK Police with Firearms - the follow up
« on: March 07, 2010, 11:01:51 AM »
Have researched, asked, chatted, been frustrated but, finally, have more or less commissioned some figs from a sculpter (just need to do contractual stuff, etc.) Thanks to all the advice from the Forum, we are looking at, I am assured, a two month max window until masters are done. After that, need to get some casting done when possible. Thanks especially to the companies who are helping the process by granting permission for the use of their weapons, most notably Hasslefree.

Hope to soon(ish) have minis for sale, first release is ARU (street cop uniforms) and CO19 (NOT overalls, shirts and baseball caps), plus two bareheaded characters. Look for Urban Beat Miniatures (copyright) announcements on TMP. Any suggestions for future releases or photos, etc., please get in touch via here. Small beginnings, home grown business, lots of money up front but, once I get sculpting for myself, might get a lot cheaper.  :?

Sorry, of course I will post piccies, news, etc. here on LAF, love this place since it was recommended to me, used to live in Duisburg in Germany, so would always want to include that pasrt of the Wargames World in anything I do. Tell you what, I'll let LAFfers see things first and then TMP. Alles klar?

Best of luck with the venture, will keep a weather eye out for these.

One word of warning, inclusion of the word 'beat' is likely to make for some interesting Google searches. If it's a UK registered domain you may want to avoid using the word 'cottage' ( as in cottage industry) in your promotional blurb. On the other hand you may find yourself inundated with orders from George Michael and former Wallabies coach Alan Jones.  ;)

I suggest that you give frother's the heads up too, there's a lot of zed heads over there who would be very interested in this.

Who's doing the sculpts then?

This sounds interesting - any chance that you could put up some pictures of the type of uniforms you mean - not knowing what ARU stands for when I put that into a search I get a lot of interesting - but irrelevant - responses. (And all the CO19 types are wearing baseball caps etc!).

I'd be intereted in who is doing the sculpting as well!

Thanks

Sounds like a great set of figs. I see CO19 cops fairly often as my street is used as one of the runs to the Crown Court so whenever a high profile case is on they stand around on corners while police cars and an armoured truck flys past. I've only ever seen them in baseball caps or bare headed. Are yours in the helmets shown here?

So many projects..... so little time.......

This is the plan, do not want US SWAT-a-likes at the moment, plenty of those around.

Hurrah! Tech support wins! For ARU or Armed Response Unit, see left and centre. CO19, see the right but add G36c's.

What do we think?

Still want to know who you've got mate, as the project will succeed or fail on the quality of the putty pusher!

Also if soapy's offering you should take him up on it for a few minis!

I think it was mentioned before that Soapy was busy and couldn't do them, I could be wrong though.

So are your CO19's going to be in patrol caps? If so, is there enough difference between the figures? Might as well do the same ones with a gun change.

True, but we still don't know WHO is doing them?

Grimjack, you do know that Ebob does a very good sculpting service too. He's just completed a set of hazmat's for Kev over at HF that are pretty tasty. I'm sure he could turn his hand to your requests, (Kev said he's very reasonable on commissions too).

Just a thought
