Napoleonic Highlanders (and Peninsular French)
« on: April 14, 2010, 09:44:34 AM »
Can somebody please tell me where to get some really nice British Highlanders (Flank Company, non-marching) and French Voltigeurs (IIRC) (Flank Company, non-marching).

I know the Victrix and Perry plastics - but I really don't need that many minis (did I write that?), as I'm just going to do some light skirmishing using the Song of Drums and Shakos rules.
Ask at the LAF, and answer shall thy be given!

you can try the front rank ones

if you feel more wealthy than usual you can always try the foundry ones :D

I went to Foundry's site just prior to posting here, and they seem to only do regiment/army deals atm (feel free to correct me)...

I'll go have a look at Front Rank  :)

I love Front Rank, but they can be pricy and the poses are limited. It might work out better for you to go the Perry/Victrix plastics route, especially if you have some other fellow at the club who are also interested in joining in.

... I love Front Rank, but they can be pricy ...

I’ve read this comment quite often on the web and I don’t get it… up until recently individual Front Rank figures were 1£ each (now 1.05£)… That’s well within the normal price of figures these days, isn’t?

Fair enough. By the time I order them with my colonial play money and pay the (fair, but expensive) shipping they cost me a lot more than something comparable from Crusader USA. Then again I am probably paying a similar price for my not inconsiderable Eureka fix.

Plenty of 1/72 plastics out there but im guessing you want 28mm and I can understand why you dont want to buy victrix or perrys so foundry or front rank as stated

Yes, I want to be able to use the terrain I make/buy for other 28 mm gaming (I own tons of 1/72 plastics that I use for my own adaption of Warmaster, but skirmish gaming is more appealing in larger scales).

And Foundry and/or Front Rank it will be - I looked at the other brands, and they don't really do it for me... but if someone offers to share a box of plastics, I'd be ready to go that direction, too  :)

Front Rank figures are really nice to paint. I will post some of the Spanish I'm working on soon as I finish my Militia Regiment. I could not bear to do a complete British or French Army but find the Spanish ideal as every unit can be painted different.
