The Magnificent Sven
« on: April 15, 2010, 03:39:03 PM »
Thought I'd start a new topic for this one before I become too distracted and forget about Orc's Drift!!  ::)

Talking of the other old scenarios - recently picked up The Magnificent Svenn scenario as well as Svenn himself on ebay - noticed I already had Juggo Jorikson and a couple of Slann from other job lots so thought it was worth a punt!

Don't know much about it but it looks like a nice skirmish sized game judging from the card characters listed on stuff of legends -

Mind you if the Slann Warhound costs this much...

Think Otherworld do some nice giant lizards which might work well instead...

Your going to need to pick up 2nd edition and ravening hoards to make the collection complete, they were going for bargain basement prices when I go mine a few years back.

I've got Ravening Hordes - the one with the Christos Achilleos illustration of a ravening orc horde lined up along a ridge. Will have to keep an eye out for 2nd ed.

Are there rules/stats in them I'll need for the campaign?

Anyone know of any sites with actual pics of the minis other than stuff of legends?

You shouldn't need Ravening Hordes but you will need the rulebooks from 2nd Ed. If you have other editions you can maybe fudge it, but the basic info on how WHII works is in three books called 'Bestiary' (this includes stats for everything including humanoid creatures), 'Magic' (which is both spells and magic items) and 'Combat' which includes turns and movement as well as missile and melee combat.

If you get a decent boxed copy of 2nd eddition it should have a citadel flyer with pictures of the minis. Also a set of cardboard minis if you get stuck, hmmm, I'm sure it would be wrong to scan them.....

Yes a heinous crime!   >:( ;D

Think I'll drive myself mad searching ebay for the minis and use proxies where I can't afford silly prices - much like Orc's Drift - which I must finish first::)

Rules wise, as for Orc's Drift, thought I'd fudge 3rd ed. rules, or even SOBH.

Well thought I'd paint up the inspiration for my purchase of this scenario while I wait for it to come through the post - Juggo Jorikson!

As I know very little about the characters and plot apart from it involving a steam powered paddle boat, high tech equipment, the Slann  >:D, and is obviously set in Lustria, I'll shut up and show some pics...

Haven't forgotten about Orc's Drift - Juggo will be making an appearance at Ashak Rise with the rest of the gold diggers!

Juggo is a character in McDeath. :?

Not the mini, just the name, a dwarf bodyguard for Julia McEwman.

Oh fair enough - just going off a Collecting Citadel minis entry - thought it was odd that Riolta Snow was included...  :?

Anyone any ideas what this dwarf is called?!   ;D

Spose I'll find out when the goodies get through the post...

Ok, always great stuff.
Talk to us about these cutie little scenery piece you have floating around all your pics.
Is there another thread with pics of your scenery? If not there should be!
I would really love to see some pics and quick how to on those little bases with clump foliage on them.
Thanks
As always, Inspiring.
Bill

Cheers Bill - no thread dedicated to scenery I'm afraid but loads of pics in my nasty orcses and Orc's Drift threads if you haven't seen them...

http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=17333.0

The bigger bits are all from Amera, including the ruined temple in this thread - nice cheap vacuum formed scenery - not terribly detailed but you can add stuff yourself - good stuff in both Fantasy and Future sections -

http://www.amera.co.uk/

Trees are the Woodlands Scenics realistic tree kits - wire and plastic armatures that paint up nicely and loads of clump foliage which you stick on.

The little bases are dead easy and were actually made as an afterthought after I'd done a few trees to bulk out the area my woods would cover on the table and make them look a little more realistic!

I had some odd shapes of plasticard left from basing the trees so just painted them brown, added a couple of tones of static grass and some earth scatter (think it was called this? From Antenociti's Workshop). Once that was dry I glued on some clump foliage - various colours, a few twigs for logs, bit of lichen and some long straw coloured grass in clumps - Bob's your uncle!

I only ever made about 6 pieces so just shows how versatile they can be!  :D

Need to order some more plasticard and finish off the rest of the trees at some point so might get round to some how to photos at some point in the next month or so if you'd like - meantime I can always get a few closer pics tomorrow at a more sociable hour!

Pictures of the Magnificent Svenn figures are on the CCM wiki here

Rules wise, as for Orc's Drift, thought I'd fudge 3rd ed. rules, or even SOBH.
I'd download and use Mordheim from GW's website if I were you.

The Magnificent Svenn is a great scenario though, as I recall, is does need a lot of villagers. The other dwarf is called Juggo Joriksson and Riolta Snow does indeed make an appearance.

P.S. Inspiring stuff, these old lead threads! Keep up the good work.

Thanks Citisen!

Already got Mordheim downloaded - will give them a read...

Happy Days - Riolta is also wending her way through the post as we speak!

So this dwarf is Juggo? I'd gone with the CCM ID originally... Is it a case of mistaken identity or characters cropping up in different scenarios?!  ???

Should have a fairly sizeable militia once I'm done with Orc's Drift - hopefully they can stand in for the villagers in this scenario  :D

Yup that Dwarf is Juggo. It says it on his base (at least it does on mine).

I think probably it's supposed to be the same Dwarf as in McDeath - perhaps after the events of McDeath he goes to Lustria with the Norse Dwarf colony? At this period the background wasn't fully worked out, it's only later in the development of the game mythology that the Norse become Chaos Worshippers and the Norse Dwarfs sort of disappear.
