I thought that people might like to see some individual shots of my Firstborn Martian Pirates:

Excellent work there Heldrak.  I'll have to follow suit and post some close-ups of LPL entries myself.
I love the black skin tones that you've achieved there, mind sharing your recipe?

They look very good! Nice shading on the figures.

I posted the recipe in this older Barsoomian thread here:

http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=11089.15

But I'll repeat it here for convenience as well:

These were done primarily using the Reaper Master Series Dark Elf Skin triad, but I added a further base coat with a 50/50 mix of the Reaper Dark Elf Skin Shadow Color + Foundry Black and a final highlight of the Reaper Dark Elf Skin Highlight + a small amount of VGC (Vallejo Game Color) Wolf Grey (#72047). In the final result, they came out a little more grey than I might like, but I felt like the additional highlight/loss of "blackness" was worth it it to bring out more detail. As I mentioned before, it's always a tradeoff when painting otherworldly black skin how much darkness you want to sacrifice to show more of the features.

Very effective black skintones. Proper black (as opposed to African black) skin is very hard to do convincingly, but your chaps are extremely lifelike  :-*

Might be nice to try for some 5150 Near Future aliens I'm planning on doing.

Makes a good recipe for the Atevi (for you fans of C. J. Cherryh's Foreigner series), or for D&D Drow... ;)

That's what I thought when I first saw them, the skin tones would work perfectly on a drow model.  Also, I agree that it's a fine balance beween staying black/dark and yet showing the appropriate level of detail.  You have pulled it off masterfully.

I've got some Fenryll resin Dark Elf figures that I've been sitting on for a long time, as well as an ancient set of Ral Partha Drow figures- You may wind up seeing them in next year's LPL... ::)

I'm hugely fond of the Foreigner series (C. J. Cherryh's magnum opus, I think). I've got to get a pre-order in for Deceiver (#11) as soon as I can scape up some money... ;)
