Probably because it's VSF.

Nah, they are an awesome set of miniatures, very interesting and the colours are spot on for the character of them!!

James, it's a mix I'm afraid. Inscribe Burnt Sienna as the basecoat, then Burnt Sienna and GW Blood Red mixed 50:50 as the main colour, then with gradual dabs of Vallejo Bright Orange and white mixed into that to build the highlights. I was trying to get a colour that looked like dried blood - kind of slightly oxidised...

Well, you did a great job.

Red has always been a difficult color for me. Usually, I think because I go too bright. You're more subdued style here is very, very nice.
