Is there are any way to use Zulu War era brits for...

I use 15mm Minifig brits for Zulu Wars brits. But I also have 3 brit figures from other manufacturer. My question - is there are any way to use zulu war era uniform for other countries??? I mean Who else wear similar colonial uniform but with different colour?

At 15mm why not? I would.

The differences are so small you wouldn't notice.

You can use the British for Afghanistan...Second War....

Other than that, the Martini-Henry rifle is pretty specific to the British.

That said, at 15mm you could play around...but a British red coat is a giveaway!

Second Afgan War?  Can someone help with uniforms?

By the way, does 1879 wniforms in INDIA was red or khaki? Because I read somewhere that Indian uniforms was khaki and other services was red... But I tgink I am wrong...

Brits in the Second Afghan War are a right old mix. Both khaki and red uniforms were worn. Generally a khaki cover was put on the white helmet, even if they were wearing their red jackets. Puttees were supposed to be worn, but it would seem that not everbody did wear them. So a British Zulu War infantryman figure isn't quite right, but damn near enough, I guess. Some had no khaki uniforms to begin with, it was a choice of red or summer whites.


Towards the end of the war large stocks of khaki uniforms manufactured in India were available, and I think everybody was in khaki by then.

Sounds like you could just paint up a mix. I guess it might down to be whereabouts they were based too perhaps?

Would it be likely that they would have a mixture on the same field though? Or would it be higher up in the ranks, the more modern?

Within a regiment I would think the rank and file would all be dressed the same. A photo of the 67th Foot in Kabul in 1879 shows a bunch of officers all wearing whatever the hell they like, though. One is in scarlet, some are in khaki, and some not wearing uniform jackets at all (one is in some kind of Afghan coat, complete with furry hat, another in a long civilian coat with a sheepskin collar).

I don't have a breakdown of who was wearing what in any particular battle. So I couldn't tell you if a red-coated regiment ever fought alongside one in khaki or not. The 66th were in scarlet in early 1880, but in khaki by July. So it seems there was a general progression towards khaki as time went on.

That's the officers. The men wouldn't be able to get away with that.

an interest choice would be to ignore the khaki question and paint some units in the other volours like: dark green (or rifle green) for a regiment rifles, blue for marines, scarlet tunic and trews (for any scottish lowland regiment etc).

the second choice is to ignore differencies in weapons and uniform cuts and paint your minis as dutch (a creamy khaki uniform with white helmet) or whatever you may like! Just add appropriate flags.

Paint them anyway you like, French, German British, that is the advantage of 15mm.  At that scale you can fudge on the little on the specifics as a good paint job trumps all.

Aye, that's my opinion of 15mm to an extent.

Just go for it! Try some stuff out.
