Darkest Africa Flash Game
« on: June 05, 2010, 12:33:20 PM »
I remember playing a flash game where you were an explorer/adventurer in Africa or you were possibly Stanley.

It involved reaching your goal/Livingstone while managing your food, ammo, bearers and medicine. While fighting off lions, crocodiles, disease, natives etc

I believe somebody posted it on LAF, but for the life of me I can't find the link.

I'd like to find it again, because I think it would form a nice basis for a Darkest Africa miniatures campaign.

Can someone please help?

I believe that game was posted on the History Channel web-site when they were doing some special on Stanley's journey. http://www.history.com/shows/expedition-archived/interactives/expedition-game I think this is the one you were talking about.

I've been playing this game for four days now.... :)
Yearly painting challenges only show me how useless I am at painting...

Bloody addictive isn't it - sorry for the wasted time!  ;D

Does anyone else think there is the basis for a miniatures "Darkest Africa" in there?

yes Sultana why not?
you could make a map with exes and toos die to move , 5 means 5 exes and so on;
after each turn another die with potential risks, bad weather, meeting of animals, enemy tribes, bad omen with porters that left you, and so on .
map should be blank and toss die for terrain.
you have just to make two-three tables, on for the terrains, one for encounters,
then have a  simple calculation of provisons, foods, ammunitions, number of porters.
I beleive it will work.
I have done something like in the poast with great fun.
have a try

Great game, made it after 4 tries  :D
Trapped in time. Surrounded by miniatures. Low on paint.

Took me 5 or 6 trys but I made it with plenty of food, 7 porters, medicine, a machete and rifle with ammo left over!
So many projects..... so little time.......
