Thank you Uncle Mike
« on: June 11, 2010, 03:12:21 AM »
My Strange Aeons rule book arrived in the mail today - it was nicely wrapped up so the rain didn't get to it (with the quality of Australia post I was in fear that it might get damaged in the mail box with all the rain I am having in my area at the moment).

The book is a handy size, the printing excellent quality, the paper feels like blood and brains would just wipe off (those lurkers are everywhere) and it is nicely laid out and put together, and (I think i failed a sanity test)... the book smells nice!  lol

Thanks Uncle Mike and Co. - you guys are Ace!

I use a lavender hand lotion...perhaps that's it.

Thank you for the kind words. Hope you like the game!

Come on, fess up... You're using Chanel no 5t :)

Seriously, that's nice and often a forgotten marketing feature, letting parcels smell nice. More often than not I think miniature deliveries smell like someone farted in the box before sealing it. Which is not a nice image.

I'm tempted to order this book. Sounds interesting! I love new book smell and I have to agree with you Hammers, it does frequently smell of Fart in most packages.

..which is also, like Lupus says, a personal touch but not easy to enjoy.

I am one of those "Mexicans" in Victoria - in the South Eastern Suburbs (well, edge of the Peninsula)

Haha that's fair enough. You're definitely south of the border then: I'm in Sydney. I won't hold it against you ;)

After having a few eldritch fears about if such rulebook with fragile coil binding would make it across the ocean and sneak past the Deep Ones in one piece, I placed my order last week and today my very own Strange Aeons rulebook arrived in the mail. Destination it reached was Finland and it only took 8 days. If I hadn't seen the postman myself this morning - a nice young lad... if you don't mind his glowing pink tentacle, that is - I would've surely thought Uncle Mike uses a Mi-Go for international deliveries.

It was in mint condition thanks to a careful and tightly fitted double bubblewrap packaging that could be called as a "labour of love". To those of you who are worrying if it arrives to your doorsteps as soaked or ripped to shreads, stop wasting your time and join us... the Cult of the Black Goat needs more cultists... ;)

I completely agree with Sir Sheerluck about the handy size, overall quality (the paper is very "plastic" which feels very nice and sturdy, and most likely will help keeping the pages in good condition with the coil binding while being flipped during games) and especially - the scent  :) It's not lavender hand cream though, but the ink and/or paper. I haven't read the rules yet, because I always end up sniffing the pages.

Although I had seen the Demo pack and loved the layout of the pages, the rulebook really manages to bring a certain Lovecraftian feel to it. Very, very nice book to own in your collection and make your gaming friends jealous about. Now I'm waiting for the "Shocking Tales of Madness & Mayhem #1" to get a reprint to place more orders.

So thanks Uncle Mike - keep those hands soft with that lavender cream of yours, and keep up the good work!
