Otherworld Medusa, Monochrome (First Attempt) WIP
« on: June 13, 2010, 07:05:28 PM »
Hi all thought I would just show a mini that I am currently working on. This is my first real try at monochrome, the skin is about done I do need to just sort a couple of bits out here and there and then it is onto the dress.

So far I am fairly happy with the way it is going.

I agree the skin tone is very nice. How do you plan to punch up the details of the snakes in her hair? This seems to me to be the most difficult part of of painting this model monochrome.

Looking good.

Would it not be better though with a different colour backdrop?  Black, white or grey?  The monochrome effect you are after seems "diluted" by the blue/white gradient.  (Just a thought.)

Thanks everyone, so far I have only used Citadel Codex Grey/ Fortress Grey and Skull White, I did start the dress today but didn't get very far as I had alot of other stuff to do which kept me away from it. The background is going to be changed just as soon as I can get a decent enough one to use for the pics. But this does show that it is greyscale painting and not just a black an white image. The snakes are going to be a problem I think and as yet I have not decided how I am going to do them,

Thanks all, I've done some more to the mini now and also I have gone for a monochrome background so as to get a look at it in full black and white perspective, I have to say that I am going to have to adjust my set up for taking photos with this type of background but so far I am happy, I think the dress has come out ok and I don't really want to do anymore to it as I think it has gone light enough.

There are a  couple of places that need a touch over or another little highlight/ shade but altogether I like how it is going.
