Headhunter weapon options?
« on: June 24, 2010, 01:18:38 PM »
Taking a cue from dphipps, I've decided to use the Copplestone Watuta warriors as headhunters for my pulp project. I plan to use some of the Foundry basketweave shields instead of the ones supplied, but what about options aside from spears? Not even sure which spears come with the watuta, but I'm wondering what my options are? I like the melon-crusher style clubs Bob Murch's Melanesians come with. Anyone make something like that in 28mm on a weapon sprue?

Any and all help/suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks!

-Todd

Not on a weapons sprue but Old Glory have some nice hand weapons in their Darkest Africa native range. I didn't have any problem clipping the hand off and attaching it to different figures.
I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was. Now what I'm with isn't it anymore and what is it seems weird and scary.

Thanks GG. I'll have to check those out. However, I'm wondering if the size difference will be an issue. Copplestone's figures are clearly 28's while most OG stuff tends to be more 25mm.  :?

Not even sure which spears come with the watuta

The Copplestone Tuta pack comes with two of his standard Ngoni spear sprues. Each sprue has three stabbing assegai (they are of the short-handled Zulu-style), and two fletched throwing spears (though all you have to do is cut off the fletching if you don't want them as throwing spears, as they are otherwise the same as the stabbing ones).

I don't know about separate Melanesian melon-crushers, but Empress have some African knobkerries in their Zulu weapon packs.

I just had a thought. If you like those Melanesian clubs in the Pulp Figures packs, they are actually separate castings (you have to glue them on to the figures). Maybe Bob Murch would sell you some on their own. I don't know what his policy on that kind of thing is, but there's no harm in asking.

Not these, they are 28mm and I use them with My Copplestone.
