Mongoose apparently announced at Gen-Con that the Age of Conan minis will be 28mm Metal and Plastic. There was talk that they might be prepainted but apparently they opted for traditional. I don't have much experience with Mongoose minis games, but at the very least, this will provide a new source of figs for Rich's top secret upcoming project..... 8)

I hope they do them well. Some of their licensed products have been hit or miss on quality.

I hope so too. As I said I don't really keep up with any of their mini games but from discussion about SST on TMP and Froth Forum, their QC seems to be improving.
My big hope is that they use Howard's work as the first and foremost reference for designing the figs. I realize that in a lot of instances, that may not be incredibly helpful but it should be the place to start. I also hope they try to stay historically accurate. I believe reading Howard's descriptions with history in mind brings you closest to understanding the images he is trying to impart. No cricket bat swords or fur diapers please!!!!

And another thing....I don't know that I will play their Conan game (I will certainly read it and see what I think). I will probably use other rules to run Hyborian scenarios (come on Rich, I'm counting on you). So if the Conan figs are hit and miss, I can buy the hits and forget the misses. Their in game rules won't mean that much to me anyway. unless, of course the rules really impress me.

I have a bad feeling that the Conan range will be a "Cricket bat sword and fur diaper" range.  Real shame, as this could be a very interesting range of figures.

Did they give a release date?

i think its slated for Next Summer.

And I'm not so sure about the CBS-FD (cricket bat swrd-fur diaper) they seem to keep away from this look in the RPG stuff they have put out.

Hi Folks,

the Age Of Conan game will be a boardgame. If this news here is not a joke.

http://theminiaturespage.com/news/106255/

Will the miniatures be for the RPG or is there another game planned ?

A Conan mass combat systhem makes no sense to me. I would recommend a skirmish systhem or an adventure wargame with rpg elements in it.

yeah...its confusing. There are 2 games being called Age of Conan. The boardgame you mentioned and a minis skirmish game from Mongoose, the makers of the RPG.

Actually there are 3 games, you forgot this new online computer game...

"Uh, I better look in the manual... This book must be out of date. I don't see "Prussia", "Siam" or "autogyro"...
