SBH battle report, Zombie Horde mayhem
« on: July 23, 2010, 09:03:21 AM »
Ahoy chaps and chapettes! I've been meaning to write up a battle report for a game of Song of Blades we played quite a long time ago now. It's a bit unconventional in two ways... first of all, we didn't manage to finish the game. Second, one side is a bit on the large for a skirmish system. It's 9 villagers versus a horde of 38 zombies! ;D

As the game was such a blast, I figured I'd share even if it's not a complete report. Try it out, it was really quite entertaining! =)

Read the report here, on my blog: http://iloapp.godzilla.se/blog/ministuff?Home&post=23

I liked your approach on the zombie-stats. My group didn't experience the same problem as you did, but voices were raised about the stats not giving room to numbers :)
Keep posting!

38 zeds is that all?   ;)

Interesting to see a fantasy interpretation of what's become a modern flavoured genre of late.

Good stuff Phreedh - might be nice to make another new rule for when the zeds have felled and surrounded a victim. Once down it would be easy for the zombies to devour the luckless victim creating a similar effect to a gruesome kill!

Memory is a bit fuzzy but is there a rule for gregarious creatures like goblins that lets them move en masse more easily and confers other bonuses too?

Another nice report, Phreed. Good example of a horde warband. Your house rules sound better and better.

Yeah, the thought struck me when writing the battle report. Would be an old rule though... Savage. =) I'm saving that for my ghouls later on in the Stillburg campaign. Savage + Greedy.

Yup, it's called... Gregarious! =P Gives a Q-bonus when doing group moves. No other bonus though. Group moves usually require a leader, but I'm tempted to allow zombie group moves for this scenario instead of batch activations. With ~3 zombies in each group, it would mean 12 activations per turn instead of 38. =)

Just received and read through a very nice set of rules called Havoc, courtesy of VoodooInk - some nice ideas for zombies there!

Two rules which I thought were cool are that zombies must attack any enemies within their movement range and if they (the enemy) are killed they are converted into zombies themselves!

Looking forward to getting a game in to try out the rest of the rules - sadly minus the zombie hordes!

Great stuff - did you try the Fear and Faith ruleset?

Very nice rules for zombies in there - easily converted to fantasy through the Victorian entries!

I'm still struggling to figure out how to use GIMP properly (yes, I LOATHE learning new interfaces...) to reduce some pics to a size uploadable to here.... but when i do, I'll post a couple of BRs using those rules!
Ask at the LAF, and answer shall thy be given!

Nope, not yet. Doubt I will, too much going on and too little time. =)
