New Project 2010
« on: 03 August 2010, 08:27:59 PM »
Hi All,

Been out of wargaming proper for over 10 years due to work but have kept my finger in the pie so to speak. Always wanted to do something in 28mm but never had the time but having been thinking about WWII but with a difference like WWWII. Also really like some of the ideas and imagesfrom  PS3 game Resistance Fall of Man but not exactly. So looking at creating a project which takes elements and ideas from all areas to create a WWII game. Project started with French village being built including Cognac factory (Always wanted to build this after seeing photos). Also to be included is POW camp, strange flying machines, mutant creatures, seabourne assault, secret bunkers,  and all many of strange things. I have a few questions;

What rules would people recommend for this type of game.

Can anyone recommend a manufacturer for WWII or Vietnam pilot figures sitting in plane as I plan to scratch build flying machines and need pilot figures.

I am planning to scratch build pretty much everything for buildings and scenery and will try and post pics as and when I can. Hope to post start of French village soon.

Thanks

Richard
I'm going to need a SWAT team ready to mobilise, street level maps covering all of Florida, a pot of coffee, twelve Jammie Dodgers and a Fez!

Have you checked Brigade Games. They do have some pulp-ish pilots perfect for cockpits. Think Sky Captain.

Copplestone also has pilots, but they're more WWI/20s/Biggles kind of look.

Vietnam pilot figures.

TAG Chopper crew do you?

Oh and for rules I'd go with Secrets of the Third Reich Grindhouse/westwind games. Perfect for all your weird war needs.

Nouvion? :D

That building looks ace, if a tad big if you are planning to add a beach, bunkers, POW camp etc to it... How large will your table be? :)
Miniatures you say? Well I too, like to live dangerously...

Nouvion sounds good. The plan is to end up with a table somewhere around 20' x 6' or 20' x 8' with alot of it usable for other interests like VBCW and Hammers Slammers.

How about Clochemerle - you would have to build at least one civic amenity :

Lovely start!  As for name, I met a WWII veteran while working at a museum with him.  He told me that his unit had fought in a town in France called "Biche"  after routing the Germans his fellow soldiers thereafter declared themselves the "Sons of Biche".  They still refer to this at their reunions.  lol
This is my boomstick!

Update

A few more buildings added to the board and painted up. Had initially planned to have the buildings attached to the boards but then after my blonde moment had passed decided to have them based in 'corner modules' that fit it each corner of the board allowing for a road in the centre.

Two shops start to take shape

Two shops painted

Just been to Wales for a few days so hope to get cracking with more asap. I will keep you posted. Leaning towards the village being called Nouvion but also like the Biche idea. Might have to build another village!!!!!
