Any Renaissance rules for INDIVIDUAL BASING figures????
« on: August 12, 2010, 03:02:05 PM »

Is there are any Renaissance rules for INDIVIDUAL BASING (not multiple figs on 1 base) figures? With long pikes, swords, cavalry, guns, and maybe sieges?

The matter is I use Warmaster for 6mm Renaissance but I also want to try this era with bigger figs and play game in different way :)

WAB2 is probably your best bet. There are a few others which I'm sure will get a mention.

HAVOC: Tactical Miniature Warfare*
http://www.amazon.com/Havoc-Tactical-Miniature-Brent-Spivey/dp/0984303707/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1258386710&sr=8-1

You can checkout the Look Inside feature on amazon.com for a preview. It was a 2010 Origins Nominee for Best miniature rules.

Looking at the picture you posted, I think you'll find it perfect for your needs. Also, the system allows you to handle mixed-formation with ease (great for late-Medieval & Renaissance gameplay!).

*full disclosure: it's my game.

The old WRG Renaissance Rules by George Gush. You can base the troops individually, the rules just provide suggested frontages per figure. Still one of the best rule sets out there.

As you use warmaster, why not stick to those rules, use inches in place of cm and single figures in place of bases?
Warhammer would probably also work pretty well.

There is talk about a follow up for the WECW rules. The name will propably change to "Warhammer Renaissance" and will cover more armies them just the armies of the ECW.

some information about this:
http://wabforum.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=6463
http://www.historical-wargames.com/Forum/forum6-campaign-weekend-september-2010.aspx

There is a playtest version of this rule set covering the following armies (maybe you can get them on disc from philipstirpe on the Historical-wargames forum, that's where I got mine):

English Civil War: Royalist, Parliamentarian, New Model, Covenanter, Scots Royalist.
30 Years War: Swedish, Imperialist, Bohemian.
French Wars of Religion: Catholic, Huguenot.
Italian Wars: French, Spanish/Imperialist, Swiss, City States.
Dutch Wars: Dutch, Spanish.
Eastern: Polish, Muscovite, Cossack, Turkish.
