Am I the only lad that doesn't know from where RX-78 came?

Looks rather like the soldier coming out of the Thames in Steamboy , but I don't think I've ever seen a model of him that large.

Clue, please.

Does all look quite smashing. However, as for comments about significant others, I've already spoken more about the lady of the house than is wise!

For the RX-78, look here

Very nice, makes me want to go back to my Japanese force and finish it.

I obtained all the Steamboy toys, I think there are 3 ranges , so I have a Mummy, Daddy and baby RX-78.

Splendid work Jimbib! Some nice detail there but then again I expect nothing less  ;).

What did you use as the base model? They ring a bell and I'm thinking Skrapwelders Iron Kelly.
Don't!

I'm always distracted by colour and shiny things......

Hardly alone in that, eh?

That whole scene in Up Up and Away where the dog's collar goes Hello, etc, then says Squirrel, then starts over, is the perfect meme for our stores manager. Only we ALL have some of those moments... ;->=

One of my problems is that I've only seen bottle cap toys, and have several. Fine for six, up to say, fifteen millimeter, but it starts being a small, clockwork infernal device for any larger scale.

Wait a tic, Sir Randall may have a larger toy; I'll have to ask him later, just for a look.

FWIW, James, don't hate you myself. Mind you, a few more posts like this, and it could be coming....

This is where I got the Steamboy toys:

http://www.hlj.com/product/BAN925415

Cost me about $30 with postage for a box of 12 random figures.  It worked out to about two of each.

Looks like the price has gone up since then.

My loverly wife give me the inspiration for this one, I showed her General Bandai and she said "Why not" and preceded to move her hands around her head in the shape of a diving helmet (at least I think that 's what it was, it might have been Japanese sign langauge for 'idiot')

Anyway, here's a try out for some a troop type that 'could' operate in space  :D

He's standing next to the original figure. All I did was take off the head, file down a bit, add a backpack (from GW's Goliath Necromunda range), make the bell and add some wires.

I have a feeling I might just make and cast a proper bell and back pack for some more troops. You never know, I might even sell them  :D

cheers

James
