Can it be something where a CD is the superstructure?  I'm thinking of a flying saucer, the sort that would be used as scenery in a Fantastic Worlds game.  The whole point would be building on the top and underside of the CD.
You, sir, are not allowed to attempt a takeover of the solar system until your octopus sobers up.

I'd OK that. Just remember that the size of the thing shouldn't exceed the size of a CD (much).

I assumed that, but just wanted to make sure :)
Besides, I adore Michael Bolton, so I only had some crappy Kiss records to molest.

 >:(
Heretic!  The KISS army will not be pleased.   On a side note I have some thrift store CD's to use:

Weren't they Swedish?  ;)

I'm looking forward to this one as I haven't competed in a "Build Something" yet.   :D
This is my boomstick!

Cool, I'll plan that then.

There will be a prize for the winner, apart from the immense prestige entailed. Something in the line of scenery...

Doesn't happen in the UK any more. Time was you would get CDs in the post from internet service providers touting for business almost every single day. It's probably because everybody is on Broad Bean internet these days, so a CD on its own is no use to anybody. You only get one once you've signed up, the line has been set up and you've been sent your modem or router.

Apparently there are still an awful lot of people on dial up... weirdo's....

I got a few CD's from Maplin. They had a stand near the door of free CD's for some provider or something. Also the £1 shops sell packs of blanks.
So many projects..... so little time.......

I still have a huge pile of cover discs that I kept from old issues of PC Gamer and such. That should last me for a while.

I help my grandmother clear up her home computer area after my gadget-happy packrat grandfather died, came away with a six-inch high stack of CDs, most with things like "Win95 Compatible!!!!" on them. As worthy of becoming scenery as a Kenny G or ABBA CD, really, and a lifetime supply!

I might be joining this, Cthulhu knows I've done enough CD-based terrain already... I shall have to consult the muse.

I remeber those AOL discs! They are probably collectors items by now. :)

Reminds me of the Futurama Garbage Ball episode where a massive part of the 20th century garbage ball was made of AOL trial discs.
