Sicks and the City, zombie Battle Report! [PICS]
« on: September 15, 2010, 04:10:27 AM »
Recently we played another big zombie game in honour of Braxandur's birthday.

Braxandur set up the table, here are some aerial shots from before the outbreak:

Objectives include the big parking lot for a good vehicle:

The big warehouse in the middle can be searched for supplies:

The small garage next to the warehouse for tools and fuel to fix the broken cars in the town:

Other objectives are the power plant on the right to turn on the gas station at the bottom of this photograph. The gas station requires power from the plant. Other buildings may house more survivors and likely more zombies as well.

Not much later, zombies scramble through the streets:

Out of gas, fifteen survivors enter the town carrying whatever weapons they found on their way here (three models for each of the five participants). The survivors split into two groups: one group heading to the warehouse and the garage and the others heading towards the chinese restaurant on the way to the power plant.

Big brains first: a blind zombie with a keen sense of smell claims the first victim:

Big boobd second: Lara Jameson is the second to fall.

The power plant group hasn't managed to make it to the door of the restaurant yet as the zombies keep swarming in and hand to hand combat is inevitable:

Lara Jameson (in pink) stands up not quite as frisky as before, before being quickly killed, again:

Two survivors down, thirteen to go, but at least the streets are clear...

...but not for long!

The survivors uise their momentum and high spirits to make small bits of the zombies.

The zombies are not impressed...

Some survivors make it into the restaurant and in a gunflash of cooperative fire clear the building of zombies...

...only to attract more with their noise.

On the other side Willis makes a dash for the warehouse and takes a peek inside.

Looks like trouble!

Time to worry about the streets first, come get some!

Unnoticed zombies around the corner claim a security guard who wasn't paying enough attention. A shame as his autoshotgun is lost with him!

Even worse, he rises to bite Waldo in the ass!

On the other side things are looking a bit better as the survivors close in on the warehouse:

Scrap that, this calls for some serious asskicking!

Fenced in with nowhere to go it's kill or be killed:

Near the restaurant the Funny Man takes some shaking shots at the advancing zombie's head.

But his unsteady hand becomes his doom...

Having cleared the restaurant the survivors exit to go to the power plant.

Near the warehouse all but two survivors have joined the dead, in their last stand, they can't fight off the undead horde overpowering them...

R.I.P.

Picking up another survivor from the restaurant (John Doe with the suitcase on the far left) the survivors find themselves quickly surrounded...

...and dwindling in numbers at the hands of a child...

...or a hooker...

...or a tranny, but not before John Doe switches on the power plant!

Bassie and Steeler (the only two survivors left at this point) decide to hop in a ride and see where it takes them.

It takes them only just around the corner, so they sprint to the next car...

...and take it to the gas station which is now operational.

It doesn't take long for every zombie in the vicinity to smell the sweat and gasoline, and even Bassie and STeeler are overwhelmed.

The end.

Let me hear the battle cry
Calling on the wind
Let me see the banners fly
Before the storm begins

Those blood markers are pretty cool.  And if they were made of foam they'd be perfect for cushioning delicate paintjobs as well.

Goddamn masterpiece- the scenery is so cool. I passed up on a chance to buy that multi-storey car park a few months ago and feel like even more of a tit now I've seen one painted up and played with.

The way it went down to two survivors at the end was very cinematic- I love how sometimes the dice seem to take the directors' seat in games and set things up for an awesome ending.

Great stuff! I would dearly love to put together a zombie game one day. Who makes the boozy clown on the can?

That was a blast as usual, Pil! At least my buddy, Duke Nukem, wasn't there to die with the rest of the survivors this time.  lol

Where the counters from? Still using Combat Zone?

Looks great, I think you need to get some washes on some of the toy cars though, they stick out too much.
Nice looking Zeds and survivors too. :D

I forgot to mention: pictures were made by FM, the table is from Braxandur, the zombies and survivors were from all participants.

The clown on the can is made by Comfy Chair Games ("Mr. Jingles Extreme"):
http://www.comfychairgames.com/pack.php?pack=74

We used our Combat Zone zombie rules again:
http://combatzonechronicles.net/cozoxa/zomzone.htm
Though we have made the zombies a bit easier to kill than in the rules in the Chronicles since we had lots more of them. The adaptions we made were:
- all zombies within 50cm of a survivor move toward them, the rest stays put (random movement takes too much time)
- zombies have toughness 10 instead of 11
- headshots may be performed at long range and benefit from +1 to hit when in short range

All survivors are veterans with ablative/primitive armour (toughness 8), they are armed with whatever they have on the model. All pistols are heavy pistols and models are always assumed to be carrying a club/knife and/or a heavy pistol if the model does not have a close combat and/or ranged weapon.

I was told by Braxandur that Billy-bob (the mechanic battling the heroic last stand together with the fireman) actually survived the last stand but was killed shortly after, maybe Braxandur can elaborate 8)
