Fantastic progress on both your buildings, it's great to see all of the various steps and the attention to detail that go into one of your project, I can hardly believe how fast you are going though, I would love to have that level of focus and determination.

If you don't mind me asking, who makes the sheets of brick work?

Keep up the great work on this fabulous project.
Thanks

There's four sheets to a pack and at about £3 a pack it's great value (although bigger sheets would be nice  :) )

Silent, if you want more info on the Dutch style of building you might consider giving me or any other Dutch laffer a shout. Stuff like this is actually part of basic history education over here. (My how I regret not paying attention in that class)

Very nice. Love the details. Love the step by step.
Don't you have problems with spreading the superglue over such a large area?

Will be following this one closely

I think you have got them all, any other basically is a combination of those styles. A common one would be a stepped one ending in a round top, for instance.

I am a bit at a loss for a word here, but I´ll try to explain. Almost all of these styles would have a slight overhang on the top, generally white. just a flat tile so to speak on the steps, and a bend one on the other of course. The bottom edge of these are often detailed much like you might find in the top corner of many luxury buildings. (I for the life of me cant remember the name of such finish, plint)

On the stepped ones it is also not uncommon to find that these details continue across the entire front rather then only atop the step, on ever third or so step.

The dutch word for such things is Gevel, searching for that might provide you with some further inspiration. Amsterdam particularly has a lot of these, so searching for "amsterdamse gevels" should help.

Hope you can make some use of the info!

Your attention to detail is insane SI!!  :o

I have looked at making opening doors many times but usually give up.

This is a great insight into how you do yours.

Can I simulate it - doubtful.  :(

Coming together nicely SI  :-*  :-*  :-*

There are a few older houses in Petersham (just up the road from Kingston) that have similar roof profiles. I can get some photos for you if you want?

cheers

No trouble at all dear boy, I'm heading that way now for beerage (lots and lots of beerage, film and curry to be included  :D ) and there's a nice little one on the main road with wonky windows and everything  :D

cheers

I've just realised I didn't take any photos for you on Saturday  :( Sorry about that, well, I was going out to get hammered. And I did  :D (saw Lawrence Dallaglio in the Cricketers in Richmond, which was nice)

I'm off on Friday sorting stuff out for the show at the weekend so I can pop up in the morning.

cheers

Coming along nicely. Do you anticipate any difficulty painting the interior? It looks like some of the nooks and crannies like the fireplace might be tough to get at with the walls all glued together.
