New DC set coming out and some pieces of interest

New Heroclix set, and as usual, I like to post some of the more interesting figures that can have some generic uses.

Easy Company Soldier. WWII army grunt
Gorilla City Warrior: Nice sized Gorilla with armbands
Golden Age Crimson Avenger - Red duster and a cowboy had and mask.
Beast Boy in a Bear, Cheetah and T-Rex form. The T-Rex is Super Rare, but the others are common.
Detective Chimp. Monkey with a Magnifying glass
A few other Golden Age heroes I haven't seen pics of, but I'm sure will have that costume style people seem to like. (Mr. Terrific, The Atom, Johnny Quick)

The only bad thing about the new clix are they are getting bigger and bigger and they are sizing themselves out of a lot of other gaming lines.  I play with 32mm stuff and that stuff is bigger then mine heading towards the 1/48 scale.  I picked up a Clark Kent, some kind of goon, Jason Blood and they all tower over all of my other stuff.

Might keep that stuff within the size ranges of others so you get cross sales.

Looking forward to this one.  As a long-time HC collector/player/re-painter I had high hopes for NECA when they bought the property, and I adored the Blackest Night set, but I looked at the Brightest Day set recently and there's some dodgy scupting going on there.  The scale with Clix has always been hit or miss, so I can live with that and usually re-paint the more worthy models.  I'm also a little perturbed about the White Lantern chase figures being so hard to get (though most here won't care about this).

And honestly, in addition to the scale issues and the softer plastic, the sculpts are getting less detailed. The Zamaron posted earlier today is literally in the least dynamic pose possible.

I used to look to Heroclix as a great source for minis, but those picks are very few and far between these days.

The quality has really gone downhill since the Secret Invasion set.  Some of them have been looking a little better in hand in the last two sets, but still pretty bad overall.  It's weird because the greens for some of these look great but the end product is terrible.

I think it has more to do with the new choice of plastic and the really thick paint.

Yeah, but for me, it's been everything since Avengers. I had hoped the new company would get things back on track, but, not seeing it.

Avengers had some bad and some good.  Justice League, Crisis, and Mutants and Monsters also had some mixed stuff.  But from Secret Invasion on, it went to more bad than good.

I bought a few Secret Invasion recently ($9AUD was a pretty good price), I got a few nice figs in Doom and some Super Skulls, but the rest were pretty average. It seems like the quality of the figure is somewhat linked to rarity. Thankfully, most of the figs I want for Super System can be found the old, closer to 28mm, sets.

Actually, that is slightly true.  They announced, I think starting with Secret Invasion, that sculpts would be of different quality depending on the rarity.  A strange idea, but WizKids has always been a little weird.  Not sure why you wouldn't want to make all of your products look good.
