New from Studio McVey
« on: December 16, 2010, 07:13:42 PM »
Studio McVey have just released this bit of pulpy goodness:

http://studiomcvey.highwire.com/product/smm15-ruby

I mean cowgirl riding a dinosaur - goes good for lost worlds or paint her blue/red with a different head and a great alien female.

I hope to pick this in the New Year when I get paid!

I realize I must be in a tiny minority, but none of their stuff really inspires me.   :?  It's not the prices, high though they are.  I just don't want to paint them.   ::)

I have to say that I'm with you on that. The execution is great, but the style is just a bit too formulaic for my taste.

I totally agree... and the silly prices don't help.

I have one of their figures, and I love it (the sculpting is really good, and the casting is nigh perfect. Seriously, imagine all the figures you have that you consider "really good": this is better, much better), but I don't see myself buying another any day soon. I really do like the figures, but the price is indeed a bit much. For a minimum of $20 a pop you have to really, really, really, really want one in order to buy.

The price was kinda sorta justifiable when it was just the limited "collectors" figures (not that I think at all highly of the "limited edition" concept, mind you, regardless of producer), but the fact their new non-limited gamer-oriented lines are priced the same is daffy IMO. Nobody's gonna pay that much for a table mini.

History viewed from the inside is always a dark, digestive mess, far different from the easily recognizable cow viewed from afar by historians.

The minis for the Sedition Wars which are released right now are also limited resin casts ;)
They will be also released later in lead to a cheaper prize, as far as I know.

I have to admit that the price per figure has put me off buying anything from this range to date - but this new one seems to be more better value for what you end up with so hopefully I will pick it up at some point!

To me that's what appeal about this range.
