Science vs. Pluck is an odd cross between a role-playing game and a war game. The players are all British officers vs. umpire-controlled Mahdists. Designed for Sudan games, but no reason why it couldn't be used for the Zulu War. I have a copy and it is a rather good read, but as yet have not played it. It strikes me that one could actually play it without figures at all, the same way I ran games when we used to do role-playing.

Principles of War works great with 6mm as you use bases (9cm x 4cm for Zulus) with as many figures as you like. No casualty removal until the whole base routs/dies.
(Of course, as co-author I am a tad bias!)

Boooooooooooooring post, but I have a load of "6mm" Baccus figs lying around and want to put them to good use. Lately the colonial era really has got the better of me..

BUT

I don't want to use just another warmaster modification.  lol

Well, since you have the Baccus figures, it seems a shame to not use their Polemos rules... ;)

They're doing a Colonial supplement I think. So I'll hold until it sees light.

Check out Cat10Woldes Zulu rules, using 3 figures on a base.

(at 10mmWorld)

It would work, and the rules are fine.

I say TSATF, use 20 based units with a few figures on each, or something).  TSATF and the LAF's own T&T are my favs.

Maidstone and District Wargames Club ran a show game a couple of years ago using 6mm Zulu's and a simple yet innovative set of home made rules. The game was very good and had real flavour, so much so that I bought lead (that is still unpainted).
I have found the rules, if you want them just shout.

You probably don't want to individually base them I assume?  If you did, Chris Feree's isandhlwana and Rourkes Drift rules are brilliant (and free)

But with TSATF,   four figures per base, a 20 base unit plus some comand and sgts would be a 1/1 company.  pretty cool, eh?

Well now I did my first stands and as you see... I've switched to Sudan altogether.  lol

I'm basing in anticipation of a Polemos Colonial war set that's going to be out whenever.

(I forgot to paint the mahdist shields... but will do it... at some point!)

Small pedantic correction to Mr Smirnoff...the club who ran the Zulu game were the Maidenhead and District Wargamers(MADGamers) and not the Maidstone oojamaflip...Berkshire has higher standards than Kent don't you know lol
My old club so just wanted to put the record straight
Cheers

Only just noticed this post. Fantastic figures.
I also vote TSATF. Although, you'll probably end up (as I have) modifying it beyond recognition.

I guess I'll have to look into it now.. group pressure and all.

I'm doing Science vs Pluck first though. Just to get things going (already bought them). And Polemos if it ever comes out.  lol

Thank you! The Mahdi's own camelry should be getting a bit stronger tomorrow.  lol

But I'm beginning to run out of miniatures. I might even have to buy some! Goes a little against my plan of painting stuff that I've been hauling for at least 2+ years.
