Lovely looking lady of the sea there. Just one thing, too late to the party to do anything now it's painted, but I'd have broken out the Greenstuff and gone over the section gaps that you can see where the pieces of the ship clip together down the sides.

I had planned to, but once it was glued and undercoated the gaps didn't seem that noticeable (likewise with the tiny across deck), but after drybrushing with a lighter shade they seemed to jump out.

Oh well, lesson learned for next time (if there is a next time)  :D

Finished putting together the masts - the tops just need gluing and then they're ready to paint. I'm really pleased with them - This is the first time I've done anything complex with masts and so on.

Looking real good.

I've got a Mega Bloks ship but fear the work needed to get it ship shape.

Astor, lovely ship! I'm just curious, were did you get your plank sheets from? I've been looking for some nice ones but haven't found any I liked.

Nice job on the masts. You've convinced me to make my own as well. Luckily, I had made them removable for ease of storage anyway.

Thank you gentlemen!

Looking real good.

I've got a Mega Bloks ship but fear the work needed to get it ship shape.

Three Cheers go up for anybody who is up to the challenge!

The amount of work does seem daunting at first. I thought this one would be easier, with prior experience, but with the amount of work I've put into it, it's far surpassed my expectations and build-time - it's taken two whole weeks!

Astor, lovely ship! I'm just curious, were did you get your plank sheets from? I've been looking for some nice ones but haven't found any I liked.

I use Wills plastic sheeting - specifically SSMP201 'Planking'. It looks really good when painted, and is an easier option than laying the deck by hand, which I didn't have the time for.

It seems I've got my first game tonight with what I've now christened 'Royal Consort' , alongside my other ship, the Leeuw (which sadly looks a bit dilapidated alongside the Consort) - so I need to finish adding those sails!

Unfortunately, however, the figurehead met with an accident. I had the bright idea of experimenting with some of that Army Painter slop, all was seemingly going well until I came round to varnishing... the results were not good.  >:(

So she'll be gaming sans figurehead until I can either strip this one or find a replacement. :(

And I'll put some pictures up when I've finished the sails and painted the gun carriages.  ;)

Haven't had time to take any decent pictures of the ship in its finished state yet, but I did manage to take a few pictures of the set up for her first game on Monday evening, which I'm pleased to say was a victory for my outnumbered Dutch Navy crew (apologies for the quality - I had to use my rather poor phone camera).

I am loving this conversion!  I'm thinking about doing the same thing but making it a RC Sailboat.  Can you tell me how long the hull is?

Thanks
Chris
