Well, here we are: a new project, and a new blog:

I suppose you'll want a bit of a teaser...

It's a team effort between Painting Princess and I, after our run in with the lovely chaps at Eureka! More soon...

They're a set for girls :-)

There's a great set with a king on a litter; he's wearing a crown and has an attendant holding a leaf over his head (painted pics coming soon) that might be good for your  niece, Damien :-)

EDIT: Painting Princess, I just checked out your blog, cool projects! Let us know when you update your blog.

Christian, I forgot to ask but how are you going to do the bases?

I have quite a few of these painted up myself. They are great minis aren't they - I like how you've "pirate-ized" them. Very cool.

Cheers,
Ben.

Thanks for the interest guys!

More pics have been slow on coming; we've been basing frogs, so not much more painting or sculpting at the moment.

But you can check out our progress at http://battle-of-frogonia.blogspot.com/

I've also posted my first attempt at sculpting on my blog http://painting-princess.blogspot.com/ :? comments welcome  :)

For anyone interested in the minis, the guys at Eureka have a whole bunch of different warrior frogs and turtles (http://eurekamin.com.au/index.php?cPath=87_126_191&sort=3a) and also some funny little mice (http://eurekamin.com.au/index.php?cPath=87_126_783&sort=3a) which I think go great with the frogs!

I like your first attempts at sculpting, correct me if I am wrong but from the pics it looks like you are trying to sculpt folds; they look good.

The froggy minis are just so cool, really like the hex bases, its little differences like that, that makes them stand out.

Cheers
Damien

Thanks Damien :-) Yep, I'm trying to make it look like the clothes are moving along with the movement of the body.

And rocking those hex bases!

Very cool.

The hex bases give the minis an entirely different look to the round ones. Amazing how much difference a base makes!

Great minis and lovely paint jobs - on a completely different tasngent - although inspired by your blog - personally, when in more whimsical frames of mind,  I've always hankered after a set of woodland animals dressed in Edwardian garb brandishing cudgels and pistols so I could game the more exciting episodes from The  Wind in the Willows!  :D
