Eureka Moderns - ish - Zanla and Afghan
« on: February 05, 2011, 12:13:45 AM »
Moderns aren't my thing, so I can't really comment in any way. They look tidy and useful. I'd use the Zanla for some Predator scenarios :P

Eureka 28mm Afghan Mortar and 2 crew

Eureka 28mm Zanla - Zimbabwe African National Liberation Army

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zimbabwe_African_National_Liberation_Army for a quick rundown on Zanla

I also got as couple new Revolutionary Napoleonic grenadier in casquets, more of what's been seen before but in new hats of course :)

Without wishing to sound silly, but the Zanla poses look remarkably the same poses as the Apes in Boiler Suits range. Same sculptor of course, so maybe they have suitable bases made for standard poses.

I can't seem to find the Afghan mortar on either the US or AUS Eureka pages.  Is it out yet?  What about that DSHK they teased with late last year?

The mortar was just completed in the last week or two I'm guessing. If you're chasing them you best ask, the web site can lag along way behind official releases. I'm sorry I'm not much help, these things just turn up in my mailbox every month or two.

The Afghan DSHK was released last year, I bought a few at Fall-In or Historicon, I don't remember which.
They call me "Point Cow"

Alas, you've put the mortar together upside down but, as you said moderns aren't your thing.

Sizewise they fit perfectly with the Rhodesians, as well as the USMC Force recon, French, etc etc. According to Nic, there are more variants to come of the ZANLA guerrillas, with some bareheaded figures in the next batch. A ZANLA crew for the DshK is also planned. I've done my bit and requested some chaps armed with SKS carbines, RCL with crew abd some crew for the 82mm mortar.

I suspect these will see a wide range of duty in various African imaginations. They'll also make the ideal opposition for the forthcoming Portuguese. As always, lovely figures from Kosta.

Very nice, can find a use for the Zanla. Are the Rhodesians available yet?

Yes, although in typical Eureka fashion they are still awaiting 'official' release.

No need to wait. You just contact Nic at Eureka and ask for some. Same price as the rest in the range. They are currently on sale in the shop. The only advantage to waiting for an official release is that it's usually accompanied by a discount deal on multiple puchases.
