Darkson Designs chose me as "beta-painter"
« on: 30 August 2006, 08:24:20 AM »
Hi everyone:

I suppose most of you know about Darkson Designs and their upcoming AE-WWII line. An alternative WW2 with superscience and even more evil nazis (in fact, it is rumoured that they have an atom bomb and are going to use it on London... to create a WW2-Mordheim-style subgame...)

Anyway, they had a FREE SWAG offer. I sent them a showcase of some of my painted minis and they sent me yesterday a pack of their german in greatcoats preprod minis, with the only compromise for me to paint them and show them in as many forums as possible saying they are from Darkson.

This is the pack:

These are the resin models out of the bag:

And this is a comparative pic with a Darkson german, a GW GI, and a BA German. Darkson models are real 28mm, I think it is 1:48 scale although in their forum they said the exact scale should be 1:54. However, I think they can be mixed with no much problem...

I hope to be able to do something as good as their official painters!!

Congratulations! Those of your minis I have seen are really good, you will do a great job!

The minis I bought aren't resin, I think the greatcoats are resin because they aren't in prodution yet.

Infos from the Darkson Forum about the the release of the minis:

sounds great but when do we get more mini's ??????

Great question.
1. The answer is November 17-19 (GenCon SoCal weekend) we will be doing a preview of the American and German Forces that will be in the first release as well as some future releases.
2. For those of you who can not attend GenCon we will be offering all of the miniatures on the on-line shop. So for that weekend only you will be able to get both forces.
3. We will also be having a FREE download-able quick start version of the rules so you can get started on bashing the bad guys before the "Official" rule book is out.

Well I hope this answers your question and lets you see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Cheers,
Robert

Very nice!

Would it be possible to see them side by side with offereings from other companies for a size comparison?

@KeyanSark - Congrats!!

@ Prof - only the pre-production figs are resin.  The actual figs in the shop are metal.

@Kenneth - I have a couple of their figs and they are almost exactly (1mm difference) the same size as Artizan and Bolt Action minis.

@ All interested - The range is growing and there are already some cool minis released.  I love the altered gorilla (scroll down for pic):

I have quite a few of them and they are excellent. May be challenging to paint though...

I also have some of these! mad doc + 2 "zombie" soliders;
very characterful minis although I've found them hard to paint as fine as they deserve...
