I've just seen these for the first time – really great stuff. Empress produce such lovely minis, and these have fine paint jobs.  :)

How does the saying go? "I really don't need to start buying stuff for another period, but..."  lol

Those are superb painting jobs - well done!

Where did you get the plastic fern for the bases?  It looks really good.

I've also just finished another four Maori and four colonials myself.  Such great fun to paint, and beautifully sculpted.  They'll go up on my blog in a few days.

The ferns are etched brass. I ordered a few from Hasslefree  (link). However, the plants did not looked like the ferns that I know so I cut them to pieces and assembled the leaves anew.

It is a bit of work but I think it gives the miniatures that certain Aotearoa touch they deserve  :D

Thanks for that info about the ferns.

Here in New Zealand I've found a local supplier of Noch paper HO/OO photo-etched ferns, so I've ordered some of those tonight to see what they're like.

As you say, nothing like a fern or two to give a touch of this country.

I look at your painted figures, great paint jobs and say, " no no I will not order some, then go to another post. Then come back to yours, look at the photos, find something I missed and again tell myself no. No is losing out thanks to you. I do have some figures that Richard Houston did in the 1980's, if I remember correctly, but they don"t compare. I have to save me from myself.lol

KIA ORA! The project is still alive and kicking.

After my motivation to take photos has awakened from hibernation I took the time to shoot some work i have done since summer. Thankfully my painting motivation does not care about winter  ;)
