Feel free to copy whatever you want pal! :) We are here to share.
The bad news is that this kind of work is really really time consuming. Especially the irregular flagstone pattern, it really takes hours to be done, even on "small" surfaces. The diamond or square patterns are way easier.

if you hadn't disappear from the real world with the new house, whe should have gone with the resin pavements! =(

Great progress, though! I'm very curious to see it painted, at the end!

You know, Jack, it has been a hard period for me (and still I have lots of things to do  o_o). Maxx came from Verona to see the project and so we were inspired by his ideas and we have done this way. We had a great time working all togheter and so it was not a terrible work. And, after all, if we have gone with resin pav I would not have so many different cool patterns. :)
BTW we still need your resin-world knowledge for buildings! :)

Maybe a more elaborate pattern for the centre? Like a central square with something like a compass rose?

Of course, these are meant to be reconfigured in multiple arrangements...

Great work chaps!

Having had a go at scribing foam with flagstones and cobbles, I know what a tedious and time consuming task it can be. You have obviosly put a lot of work into this phase.
If you were inclined, you could press a few random stones in to give a sunken look to them and break up the flat expanse of stonework. It is not essential as they look great as they are, but may give them a touch more realism. Even modern flags are not all perfectly flat. Maybe a few bricks on the sides too...

It is a fantastic looking project that is coming along very nicely, and well worth the wait.

Keep up the good work, chaps!

Thanks Mason :)
You are right pal, I have to press some stones, it is a bit flat now...I'll do for sure! BTW before going to painting we'll look again every island for detailing.

The bad news is that this kind of work is really really time consuming. Especially the irregular flagstone pattern, it really takes hours to be done, even on "small" surfaces. The diamond or square patterns are way easier.

The process:
1) press your fingers here and there on the smooth surface. Avoid "single" holes, better to press the same surface more than once from different directions.  Obviously the result depends from the material you have. Zizi666 (if I recall right) suggested on this thread to use aluminium foil wrapped around a pencil to obtain the rocky shape. Can't hurt to try.
2) mark down the pattern you want by using a big thootpick. You have to use it tilting it almost in parallel to the surface you are working on. You have to mark hard but not to carve.
3) detailing :) Cracks apart (it's exactly the same of drawing!), I press gently the last 0,5 cm of the toothpick on some brick to add micro inequality that I hope will be cool for the future drybrush.
I hope this helps! If people are interested I could prepare a tutorial :)

I would love to see a step by step or even a sample video of how you do it!

There's some nice ideas for bridges on the table in Midismirnoff's link. Deffo Fabers board is going to be better though!
