Great thread, I really enjoy the scenery items. I currently use actually rocks for boulders and such, I think I'll have to go styrofoam now.
a mixture of quick parts, sarcastic humour, reserve, and caprice.

Engel, this project is so inspiring! Might I ask how you do the bases, paint and all? It's the exact look I'm going for but can't quite get it right. :)

This is a great project and I look forward to new additions.  Consider your moss-covered-boulders idea nicked.  I'm guessing you used Woodland Scenics medium or fine turf, right?  Regardless, that's what I covered my own rock-piles in on Tuesday and they look great so thanks for the inspiration!

Moribund > I have put together a tutorial on how I done the ”area” for  the terrain, maybe that could help.  The principal is the same either I’m doing a miniature or a piece of terrain in this project.
it doesn’t have base color
Check is out here http://kampgruppe-engel.blogspot.com/2011/10/fantasy-terrain-tutorial.html

Hopefully it can help a little, and if it doesn´t you can always ask here. The trick is to use a lot of water in the color so it will spread out and create a natural shading effect on a terrain piece like this.

Funghy-Fipps > Thanks. I don’t remember the exact name of it as I store it in an unmarked bag, but I think you’re right. I´m not totally happy with it but that has to do with the actual color and not the material. I’m thinking on getting something similar but in a different color.

Something like this.

The lack of updates is because I’m currently finishing my roughly 4000pts Eldar army in 40k to tabletop standard.  We will be playing an megabattle this weekend so after that I will be free to work on other things again.  :)

That is a really cool little piece of artwork. Where did it come from?

The artist is my favorit, John Bauer

It's an artist with an important impact on the Swedish mind. To us, this is what trolls, gnomes, elves and water spirits look like. And the places where they live.

Love the colour scheme of the troll, really cool to see something different from the standard gw colour schemes people paint. :)

Thanks for posting your works- I had never heard of John Bauer. Really interesting images, I love turn of the century illustrators.

I got some poor farmers painted.

The miniatures are from Gamezone. Very nice miniatures.
