Underworld and Watchmen, both films I hadn't seen up to this point because despite the hype the both looked kind of rubbish, but they both turned out to be surprisingly good.
Underworld had a surprisingly well executed plot (I was especially impressed with how well it handled exposition, which is usually a problem area for a films of this type/genre), and the main characters were for the most part surprisingly well done.
Aside from some on-and-off bad acting, and some (thankfully not plot necessary) unexplained bits where it felt like something noticeably got cut, Watchmen was very well put together also. Still not sold on Zack Snyder though. How much was him, and how much was the source material? Hard to say when an adaptation is so cut-and-paste, but some of the squiffier performances make me skeptical.
I will say that I didn't see why everyone fixates on Dr. Manhattan's wang so much. Eye-rollingly immature squick/fear reactions to male nudity aside, it's actually very rarely on screen, and when it is it's just a vague blue shape. People need to grown the fuck up.
