Heritage Miniatures - figures from the dawn of time

Well, maybe not that old. These were a commission and were fun to do. They are challenging to paint in my usual wash style, since that style depends on letting the sculpt detail "shine" through the paint and do most of the work. The figures are a bit rough in terms of detail, although charming in their own way, but do not really help the painting task. Still, with rough details comes a chance to improvise. The evil wizard looked like half his face was melted, so I went ahead and painted it that way with extra washes of reddish brown. The dwarf had big flat gums for a mouth but some odd flash so I painted some teeth on the flash. It all worked out in the end.

The fighter with the teardrop shield and axe is the first miniature I ever bought way back in the late 70s early 80s.

You did a great job on him and whoever you painted these for is very lucky.

The fighter is probably the best model of the bunch as is a good solid figure. It has a nice pose and good detail. The halfling is good also.

Those are still my favorite skeletons, and many of those old Knights and Magic and Dungeon Dweller figs are icons of my youth.

It is great to see what a skilled painter like yourself can do with such relics.

Brilliant paint work. I have some of those around here somewhere as well. They were my first miniatures painted, some in Testor's enamels and some in Heritage acrylics. Hmmmm...now I have to go on a treasure hunt and try and find them.

I saw a site with the official molds making new casts, but these were 100% ancient lead. Luckily there was no lead rot or anything like that, but it was clear the molds had been used quite a bit as the casts have some artifacts that needed cleaning. Most were good though, and some of them were really good.

I'm glad so many folks liked seeing these. I never had too many Heritage figures, only the Orcus figure and an orc or two, all painted in enamels back in 1980, and did not realize how big a line it was. I only grew up with Grenadier.
