New project - 15mm Lebanon 82, more Merkavas
« on: 04 June 2011, 07:36:54 PM »
Hi again,
even under the pressure of producing the next couple of Victory Decision books, sometimes I just need a break and start something totally new.
It was that time again.
Lebanon 1982!

M163, IDF Patrol and Merkava I (Peter Pig, Merkava QRF)
all 15mm minis.

IDF Patrol and M163 Vulcan (Peter Pig)

IDF Merkava I (QRF, Crewman Peter Pig)

Nice work on those Merkava's  :-* , to be really 'button counting' ( ;D)you need to add the balls on chains that hang down under the rear od the turret - not really sure what they are meant to do though  ???

If my memory serves me correctly the ones I saw when I was in Israel (1983-86) the sand colour was a couple of shades lighter (but that could be down to the colour card in my PC).

The balls and chains were established AFTER Lebanon 1982 as a measure to counter RPG rounds aiming at the rear of the turret. Since my Merkavas are Mk Is, no ball and chain!

In addition, the smallest scales with balls and chains is 1/72 IMO...

Really nice brushwork on small models.  The one with the Israeli flag is wonderful.

That’s my fav too… it ad a bit of color to the whole unit. How good are these QRF tanks by the way? Are they all metal or part resin/metal? Any trouble putting them together?

Very fine work anyhow. Inspiring too ;)

OK, they are all metal, casting is wargaming standard, you have some flash and most guns MGs are seriously bend. Mold line are also running at awkward places sometimes, but all in all they are OK and can look good on the table.
