Have to say that flame unit is a horrible bit of plastic, not your painting at all the sculpt, nasty.

Yep, I've always thought it was a bad bit of design, even by GW silly weapons standards.  "Let's just keep adding barrels!  That shows it's a REALLY heavy weapon."

Bit of a no brainer GW sculpt....

There's no sniper, can't see anything  ;)
Great work!

Thanks. Wait till he is on the display base.....he will vanish

very very nice

all excellent stuff

dodge

Thanks.

Never seen a 3D sniper/ghillie done as well....

If you did hm alone on a mega scenic base you could play spot the sniper for hours!

next year's single mini entry........

Aye, beautiful work. The camo is great. Did you use bandag-y type things or proper gaming products for the underlying mesh?

The sweat stain on the flamer guy's shirt is a nice touch! :)

When is the competition by the way?

I used paper and pva with a little bit of 1/35 scale camo netting.  Golden Demon is around the 27th of September I think, definately at the end of the month I have the ticket stuck to my wall.

Have to say that flame unit is a horrible bit of plastic, not your painting at all the sculpt, nasty.

I'd go for the long barrel of the plastic IG one and mate it to the SM flamer, still looks heavy but not shitty. ;)

Love that sniper bud, you'll have to give us a foilage breakdown.

I was actually going to do that with the cadian heavy flamer, but I was lazy.  stuff used on the sniper was, news paper soaked in pva for the base, then glazed with superglue, 1/35 scale camo netting on top then random bits of moss from the front garden with a load of leaves from anotcities workshop.

wow... i discovered this thread just now, but it's AMAZING!

keep going, MrDee!!

Thanks mate, gives me a change from chaos stuff :)

just wow best painting/thread ive seen in ages love the sniper!!!! :-*

Thanks matey

What about actual flames for your flamer. I used sponge for one of my entries in the LPL. I'm sure a man of your talents could make it look better than mine!

Is that you after your fix? :P

Don't know mate that looks pretty awesome as it is, however it would require me to pretty much repaint the flamer guy as I would need to do OSL from the flames, it would also start pushing the boundaries of a diorama rather than a 40k squad entry would also mean I would have to rethink the entire display base as well.  Smoke is going to be about as far as I will go with these sorry as I am far to far along the creative progress to make such massive changes.  Still great idea mate

Where there's smoke.....

there's Cheech & Chong in a van made of weed
