or make it hollow in the middle?

lol lol of course: a big container (15 cm x 8 x 8) could cost more than 20 euros only for the resin if it is a one piece.

The point is that you still need six faces, each 3-4 mm thick, it means 4 euro of resin, plus the work of casting, and you still will have to assemble them!

Result: quite an heavy duty, and the price will be quite high.

What if it's just flat pieces and you have to put them together... Wouldn't that make it viable?

I see Sangennaru answered that already... Cheers, mate. Pity it's not worth it.

I kow the chaps at Minimi and picked the ones up I posted a couple of years ago, they were solid as it is easier to cast as if hollow etc the mould becomes more frigile etc. They were knocking them out at £6 IIRC. I think they work on a rule of thumb that as with the ships they sell 3-6 castings recovers the cost of the mould making and anything over that becomes mainly profit other than labour and resin

considered the levelled surfaces, with lots of bumps and stuff... i hardly think so. Laser cut may only make Ortogonal cuts!

any cut is a cost, more layers mean aritmetically an higher cost. :(

at this point the resin will allow you a much detailed and shaped piece :)

How about using corrugated paper for the sides?
Those have ~3mm deep ridges: http://www.dickblick.com/products/corrugated-paper/
Some single faced industrial corrugated cardboard have bigger ridges

i will... probably i'll make some experiments and then make a ....

HOLY ****!!!!!!

While answering your post... i had an illumination:::

What if i make the "metal sides" of the containers, only the mechanical parts... leaving all the "corrugated" part to you? in that case you will have really good quality pieces for... well... 4 euros?

What is your feedback about it? I'm not a fast worker, but my quality is quite good! (check on my site www.thelazyforger.com)

It should work... i'm really excited at the moment!

lol, that's what i said! :) if you want i can include the corrugated cardboard - it is quite cheap here! ^^

Should it be interesting? (Of course it depends on the quality!)
