ooops... forgot to keep tabs... Barn looks great (is there any interior action with that?), it's the small details on all of your building bases that really sell them...

do like that witch's hut, I think I have the same idea as you about the cd base... have something similar in mind myself...

Thanks, AEG!
No interior, just wanted to get the thing on the table, I am afraid.
Interested to see what you do when you get around to it...

Great Stuff!!

Thanks, The Rock!

Re: The ruins of Krappefortt MORDHEIM Living Ship- Any suggestions? UD 15/11
« Reply #826 on: November 15, 2012, 01:30:02 PM »
During a conversation that I had recently with Dewbakuk this contraption was mentioned:

It was originally intended to be a 'Living Ship' for use by Wood Elves in a game that never really got going.
It has been wrapped up and in a cupboard for some years now, but after the conversation reminded me of it, I decided to dig it out.

I would like to add it to Krappefortt as a scenery piece, but am not entirely sure which route to take.
It was designed to be used with a crew of Elven miniatures, hence the flat 'deck' areas, but they could be added to.
I know it needs a little more work on the 'wood' areas to bring it up to scratch, and the scenic areas can be improved on, but the overall shape suggests to me that I may be able to make a dwelling of some sort on it.
I will also removed the base and build a new one, this one was supposed to be used on a sea board.
Anyone have any suggestions...?

Here are a few more pictures showing what is already there.

I would also, if possible, like it to work in Strange Aeons as well, so something that makes it too urban would be best.

Any ideas, anyone?

That really is a cool/attractive piece. If you placed it close to the river, it could be a ruined Elven Craft washed ashore in the Holocaust caused by the Comet.

Thanks, Amigo!
I am veering towards simply making it a Strange Aeons piece, as, if I make it work in Krappefortt, it may have to have a dockside section on it somewhere and that will limit its use.

Although there is always the temptation in building a house-like structure on top of it....

Put a pole on it to represent a mast and then build a little tree house on top of the pole  :D

Just right for a hermit  :D

You can easy
- fill out some of the gaps in the hull with stones and mortar and some
window- or doorframes, so making it to a sort of a strange half timbered
  house
- erect some walls and some roof or a tent over the aftercastle
- add a gangway to a (maybe elevated) terrace on the forecastle
- pave the passage between after-and forecastle

Alright I did this really fast but

Senex made a good point as you could add more stonework/windows to the sides (like the left crevasse) to make the whole structure more house like. I was thinking like witches hut.

I am also a fan of the tree/mast in the center. I picture a large gnarled tree with a crows nest in it and possibly even mast canvass and ropes hanging in it to form a tree house.

Thanks, Christian.
Somewhere for little Elves to go to school, maybe?
A bit like AndyM's Pirate School, for small pointy-eared Pirates....

The mast bit is starting to get the old grey cells moving....slowly.

Plenty of ideas there.

Seeing it drawn onto the picture like that certainly helps.
A tree-mast has possibilities...

Plenty to think about there....

A witch or mad Elementalist's dwelling would be good - perhaps in a district of its own where the plants are taking over the ruins a little more quickly than they might have done without magical assistance...

I have already planned doing something very similar to that idea with the Witch's Hut that is already finished.
Great minds, and all that.

Another piece of scenery that will work well in Krappefortt.
Well, I think so anyway...

The model was made for me by Bezzo, as part of a trade, and was destined to be part of my Strange Aeons project, as a 1920's War Memorial, but with a swap of statues it should work well in Krappefortt.

Thank you very much, Bezzo!
Much appreciated.
 :D

Hope you like it...

It looks equally cool here as in Strange Aeons. The interchangeable statue is a fine idea...you could keep swapping them around to confuse the Lads or to explain why your Mordheim War Band is now sporting a 50 cal. machine gun & trench mortar. WELL DONE!

Re: The ruins of Krappefortt MORDHEIM Statue UD: 14/01 Needing a kickstart?
« Reply #839 on: January 14, 2013, 06:48:02 PM »
Just a small update to say that I have been suffering the usual post-Christmas lack of mojo.
This seems to happen to me every year.
Am I alone in this?
I cannot find the gumption to pick up a brush and paint anything at the moment.

To try and give things a kickstart, I thought that I would return to some scenery building, and it seems to have worked!

I am currently in the process of making not one but two Graveyard pieces with the intent to sell them.
They are almost finished and I now seem to have the urge to continue in the same vein and make some more scenery for either Mordheim or Strange Aeons (preferably something suitable for both) when they are done.

That seems to have been a good idea then.
 :D

Does anyone else seem to suffer this lack of interest having taken a break for a few weeks, or is it just me?
Maybe in others it works the opposite way, and you get the urge to build/paint/whatever when you have a break...
