Re: The ruins of Krappefortt MORDHEIM Statue UD: 14/01 Needing a kickstart?
« Reply #870 on: January 29, 2013, 12:46:14 PM »
Just a small update to say that I have been suffering the usual post-Christmas lack of mojo.
This seems to happen to me every year.
Am I alone in this?
I cannot find the gumption to pick up a brush and paint anything at the moment.

To try and give things a kickstart, I thought that I would return to some scenery building, and it seems to have worked!

I am currently in the process of making not one but two Graveyard pieces with the intent to sell them.
They are almost finished and I now seem to have the urge to continue in the same vein and make some more scenery for either Mordheim or Strange Aeons (preferably something suitable for both) when they are done.

That seems to have been a good idea then.
 :D

Does anyone else seem to suffer this lack of interest having taken a break for a few weeks, or is it just me?
Maybe in others it works the opposite way, and you get the urge to build/paint/whatever when you have a break...

I've been the same for ages, mate - haven't done any  serious painting since I don't know when. I think it is mainly cos I am absolutely good for nothing (more than usual...) of an evening at the moment due to the demands of the new job. Really just eating and sleeping and very little else of an evening at the moment. No excuse for weekends though...

I also think it's cos I don't have a great deal of enthusiasm for what I'm painting at the moment - kinda stalled on my own Strange Aeons project.

I am about to buy some of the less-than-popular Dystopian Legions models (at least with LAFfers it seems...) though, which I am looking forward to painting. I will go back to the Imperial Fists at some point too I am sure. I SHOULD be painting stuff for the Strange Aeons: Inquisitor game, but as I am not playing it with anyone I don't have much enthusiasm. Dystopian Legions it is!

Always hafl in mind to paint more Mordheim warbands too...

Anyway, you've been doing your usual bang up job of scenery making/painting MAson, so don't be too hard on yourself old bean. :D

Oooh, great job, Paul! :-*

I really like terrain that doubles. In fact, I try to build my stuff like that all the time. With utter failures in my wake lol
Got any more rescent pic of the whole thing put together? :)

Thanks, Skander!
I hope to get a little time to continue with it tomorrow, so will take a few pics when I am done.
 ;)

nice, I need to get moving with my graveyard...

that small side building on the crypt is intriguing...

I am looking forward to seeing your graveyard when you get around to it.
Settled on that design for the lychgate yet?

Dystopian Legions: It is just that they are a bit too fantasy for my liking, more steampunk than VSF, in my opinion.
There arre a few on here that like them, though, so I am sure you will see some posts soon.
You have to paint what you feel like at the time, mate, whatever floats your boat.
To be fair, they DO look like they will paint up well.

I have had this sitting around for about for ages and it has some nice features.
Gotta say that it is a nice kit.

If I can find I've got a prezzie for you  :

Oooh!
Intriguing.

Yes but now where near enough skulls!!! Unless of course you are going for the much better old school Morr?  ;)

Lovely work and the graveyards are looking fine too!

Never a truer word said sir. yeah, that's what I figure (no pun intended...) too - hopefully a project which is new and shiny will kickstart the enthusiasm for painting full stop. And as Gav's keen to play DL, might as well give it a go.

This being the Mordhem thread, when we palying again?  ;)

Sorry, mate, shameless request I know - but has been too long since I felt the cobbled streets of Krappefortt beneath my feet...

Living in London you probably step in krappenfort every day fella.  :-X

The temple and the graveyards are great Mase! That's the first time I've seen somebody's GW stuff and it looks different from everybody else's!

Is that a Heroquest crypt I spy in there?

Thanks, Adam, but I didnt fancy THAT many skulls!
See below for a more in-depth explaination of the route that I am taking with this.

Let me know when you are ready, mate.
Work seems to have you chained to the desk these days.

Thanks, Andy!
They may have started looking like every other version now that I have started putting some more paint on them.
As for the Heroquest thing: I think that is correct.
It was laying around in my bits box, just waiting to be used for something.

A few more layers of paint have been applied.
As it turns out, I have decided to move away from the direction of Morr, which would have required making it a really dark building, and decided to make it more of a generic Temple with a lighter aspect to blend in better with my existing scenery and also to make it much more useful outside of Krappefortt.

Here it is as it stands at the moment.

I should get a bit further with them later this afternoon.

There was also some progress with the graveyards.

Hope they meet your approval...

LOOKIN' GOOD! The paler colors work well with the setting; to moi there are more than enough skulls adorning the place; they're, the skulls that is, not really the sort of decoration that comforts mourners. Now you just need some of the residents going out for a bite.
