Looking fab, mate, most def!

I wonder if there's a themed scenario in here somewhere involving witch hunters defending their base against the hordes of disorder? Hmmm...

Got my nephew coming over for a painting session on Sunday, and I am in the process of painting up some Germans for Bolt Action. But I am thinking maybe it's time I did make a start on Captain Rothmanns witch hunters! Need to decide on that colour scheme first - classic black and white's good, but it's bindun. Maybe cream and purple, if that isn't too eldary...

Inspirational piece of scenery that, Mason, for sure ;).

The warm shades of the stonework are no doubt intended to lull the Evil Doers into a false sense of security...the sly cunning of The Old Lady Burners knows no limits. LOOKIN' GOOD!

The sandstone looks great mate, even at this stage  8)

Is it just drybrushing or is there some other technique that you use?

Cheers, mate!
It is mostly drybrushing, but I gave the flatter areas a kind of drybrush-stipple with this brush...

...which is nearly dead but invaluable as it has been used on every building that I have made.
It is on its last legs now, so a replacement is very much in order.

lol sounds like a plan. You could have a market cart, selling false noses and newts, which could be removable :D So many possibilities. Even a huge balsa weighing machine attachable to the roof... sorry, ... I get carried away at times.

I do plan something like that.
It seems we are on the same wavelength....except the bit about the weighing machine!
 lol

Coming on very nicely. I can't believe that you have any room left on your gaming table for all these fabulous buildings.

Cheers, Mr F-F!
There are far too many for one table already, but it does allow for plenty of variety.

Jolly nice old boy, jolly nice. :)

That looks marvellous :-*

Thanks, chaps, much appreciated!

Funny you should say that, as DeafNala made a comment on another thread earlier that has given me an idea......involving several WH warbands.
 ;)

Well, chaps, thanks for the comments but I have to tell you that that is just a base.
The render has been getting the treatment and will look different, although not a different colour entirely.

Having seen the tower that Blackwolf made to go with his amazing Loch earlier this year, I was determined that the Witch Hunter Chapter House would look as damp and forbidding as possible.

Here is where it is at at the moment...

As you can see, it starting to look a little grotty...in fact in looks a fair bit worse off than that.
The light is brightening it a bit, but you get the idea.

Go for the classic B&W - the order has plenty of members!

Cheers, mate.
You will have to pop over for a butchers some time.
I do realise that you may be a LITTLE busy just now.
 ;)

I am curious as to whether you mean 'clean' or 'dirty' look, as I feel that a few may have preferred the cleaner look.
You cannot please everyone all of the time, though, can you?

In fact, I do wonder which look people prefer: Clean or Dirty (although it will be much dirtier by the time I have finished.... ::)).

OR:

Opinions, anyone?

The rundown look, while not synonymous with sinister, certainly adds to the sinister feel of the piece...probably an association with higher crime rates in poorly maintained urban areas...or not. At any rate, the dilapidated chic looks TERRIFIC.

What it needs to complete the Witch Hunter theme is a bit of audio enhancement...something that every couple of minutes will automatically emit a blood curdling scream.

How about washing it with other colours than brown? Like green and such :)

Go for the dirt every time  :D

It adds so much when done right and you have  ;)

I've got a large round brush that's similar to yours and I don't use it that often any more because I'm trying to prolong it's life  lol

I only use for very special projects but I've got another three on the go  :D

cheers

 lol lol
There are laws preventing that sort of thing....around here there are at least!

All part of the plan, mate.
So far I have only used the AP Dark Shade.
Once I am happy with that, I shall chuck some variety in, browns and greens and such.
Oh, and rust on the metals, of course.
Inspiration for which shall come from a certain archipelago.
 ;)

I much prefer the dirty look, much mre realistic, I reckon.

It's funny, the things one can become attached to, isnt it?

Glad it is not just me.
 :D

It seems that 'dirt' is very much the 'in' thing.....

I have a sanding block from about three years ago that I can't bear to throw away as it's too useful  lol

The uses keep changing however the older it gets  ::)

cheers
