now then gents... just finishing the basing on the hounds and they'll be up shortly, in the meantime, something of a poll...

Hellhounds... what flavour?

along with the standard Barguest/Black Shuck/Grim large black hound there are...

The Devil's Dandy Dogs
Demon dogs of the wild hunt from Cornwall, they are seen as the most dangerous because they hunt for human souls. The Dandy dogs breathe fire, and leave trails of blackened grass behind them.

Gabriel Hounds
A Lancashire term for packs of spirit hounds from the wild hunt, who rode across the skies making eerie howls. They where said to have human faces.

Herla's Hounds
Phantom dogs of the wild hunt, they are white with red ears, the colour of traditional otherworld creatures.

Skriker
A Yorkshire and Lancashire version of the phantom black dog, it was large with saucer eyes.

Wisht Hounds
The Dartmoor phantom dogs of the wild hunt. They were often described as headless.

now I think I'll do at least one Skriker, as it just sounds fun... but am very tempted by the Gabriel Hounds...

Gabriel hounds would be cool, but they would require some conversion work on your part.

Herla's Hounds sounds like a really neat color scheme.  :D

a Salute purchase, actually one of the prepainted kits that I bought on a whim... just dressed up again with balsa for the timbers, tried liquid g/s stippled for the render which worked ok, not 100% happy with the thatch though

I wanted a generally dirty, grotty look to it all, the plague cross just seemed like a good idea...

the straw is bristles cut from old toothbrushes... more blurb on the blog if you're interested...

Brotherhood of the Capelthwaite... a Mohican ally for my Witchhunters...

Conquest Mini's Magua with a musket swap (the original was bent beyond help)... I've loved this mini for years and finally picked one up a few months ago and in the best tradition of stealing (partly what was said here - but mainly from the film Brotherhood of the Wolf) and not a million miles away from my original Solomon Kane inspiration, I decided that a strange and dark-skinned companion would not go amiss... no doubt converted by some zealous missionary and brought back to amuse the King, he's now found a higher purpose...

oh... and a capelthwaite is a large shape-shifting black hound from Westmorland if you were wondering... and yes, I have plans...

 :o :o :o

Great update!

That house looks amazing with the 'home improvements', lovely tip about the toothbrush bristles.
Consider that idea stolen!
 ;)

Those puppies look fantastic, too, and the Master has come out top notch.
 :-*

And then you go and add a Mohican as I am typing.
Sterling work all round.
You have been busy!

Very cool  8)

That liquid green stuff render seems to work very well, I might have to give it a go.

The dogs are my favourite, the painting of them is great  :-*

cheers

Brilliant. I love those figures, and I really like the house as well. It's got that certain atmosphere.

This project is fantastic.  The interior detailing on that building is superb, as is everything else actually!

I don't know how pertinent this is, but seeing as you're using Blood on Satan's Claw as partial inspiration have you seen Cry of the Banshee?  It's a great little film starring Mr Vince P. and kind of occupies a niche between Blood... and Witchfinder General.  There's plenty of tits, too, which I always think of as a bonus.  A typically irreverent review on British Horror Films may be read HERE.

Keep up the great work.

not much to show on this so far, but it's a start and is probably the best chance to show the chimney off as I doubt it will be very visible once the building goes up...

the forge is from Ainsty (and comes with the bellows), the anvil was very nicely donated by a Frother... the chimney is blue insulation foam, brickwork carved on, then liquid g/s to have crisp up the edges a bit and to toughen up the foam...

am really torn on which design to go with the building itself, have been checking out various ones on the market... but it should match the 4ground buildings when I'm done...

and the WIP of the Black Dog...

need to redo the bottom lip, still undecided on what to do with the tail and intend on doing up the feet as well... should double up as the various kinds of Black Dog recorded, will just be a stat change... phantom hounds tend to fall into two types, lone dogs, which this will be, or packs which I am thinking on at the moment...

it's a GW Wild Warg, with a lot of greenstuff...
