New Perry Plastic Mahdists
« on: July 20, 2011, 08:59:05 PM »
These are now available at Northstar, they had two cases in today and have eight more coming in tomorrow but they are going VERY fast, get yer order in, figs great, 8 rifles, 2 command sprues and plenty of whatevers due to range of heads. Includes a booklet by Lt. Col. Snook, bit of history, comment on the tribes which can be made, pictures for colours, etc. and flags, plus some great plastic bases - I have two boxes of 40 and, at only £19 a piece, think I have a bargain - 80 customisable figures, in plastic, and seemingly compatible with all the spare parts I have from the other Perry plastics, so chance to arm with muskets galore. Now, just want to see the Warlord plastics!

I managed to con a bunch of friends out of their free sprues from Historicon. The figures are nice and I'll probably pick up at least 1 box.

Only eight rifles? Arses, I was hoping on a few more than that. Ah well, as I've decided that I don't like plastic much anyway, I guess it's not such a blow.  :?

I have no need of these whatsoever, but they look so damnably fine, I shall probably buy a box to play with  :D

Any pictures of the sprue and do you have the possibility to build 40 Ansar or 40 Dervish or 20 Ansar and 20 Dervish?

Not sure I understand that question. "Ansar" is their name for themselves, "Dervish" is what the British called them, but they are both words for the same thing.

I think by Dervish he means Beja (fuzzies).

As soldiers at the time found, being caught by the fuzzies was painful.  :D

Beja' is a tribes group :)
not include only Fuzzies (hadendowa real name )   but also some other tribes , living south close to actually Eritrea.

I love these technical discussions.

I think the answer is yes, there are enough heads to build 40 fuzzywuzzies or 40 Nile arabs. Or whatever you want to call them.

Rather usefully (judging by this thread  :D ) they come with an excellent leaflet of information written by Lt Col Mike Snook. The Perrys are really getting very good at spoiling us rotten with each new release.
