The Lost Tombs (more pics of tombs below)
« on: 15 August 2011, 03:57:12 AM »
Some pictures of a game I ran about a year ago. A six players plus natives. The players would form alliances with each other only to break them to achieve their goals.

Yup.  :)

Is the ground some kind of carpet, or felt?

Some of the pieces aquarium deco, right? Fantastic souce of terrain pieces, I have quite a bunch of Egyptian stuff myself.
Ask at the LAF, and answer shall thy be given!

Argonor,
Thanks for the comments. The matt is a 20 year old Geo-Hex matt. KR of Geo-Hex and I were great friends for many years. The large terrain piece in the middle is a aquarium piece. The "doors" into the mountains are unpainted resin from England, painted by me. Don't remember the name, but will dig the name up in a few days. Also will post some photos of the underground parts of the temple. But I have to take some pictures first.

Ah, Geo-Hex, I have several large cardboard boxes stuffed with the hexagonal modular terrain.

When I get my garage attic fixed (needs new floor planks) for gaming parlour, I'm going to put them back into use more frequently.

The huts are priceless! Are they dice-cups or just some other kinds of cups, or are they built like that?

And I especially like the temple-front with Anubis and Sobek.

Nice board mate! I don't suppose you remember where, and how much, you got that aquarium piece? I'm looking for something like that for 'The Battle of the Aquanauts' game for BLAM.

Thanks for the nice replies about the pictures.
Argonor,
The huts are small potting soil cups I purchased at the Dollar Store. Ten for a dollar. Cut the door out, then used Green Stuff for the door frame. The top had holes in it, so cut a piece of cardboard, and glued on top. Then I sprayed them with flex-stone. Drybrushed and painted some trim and was done. Pretty fast to do.

Andym,
The aquarium piece was purchased at Petco here in the US. It cost about $30.00. I put it on the table as is. I may go back and paint it but it does look pretty good. I forgot to put on the table a large sphinx again purchased at Petco.

This game was to be a play test  game that I was going to run at a convention in 2011. But I ended up not going. There are still terrain pieces to add. May I can play another like game and call it "Return to the Lost Tombs" or "Son of Lost Tombs." lol

Very nice collection you have there.

I really like the use of colour on the gateways as my Egyptian ruins are usually just plain sandstone.

The "doors" into the mountains are unpainted resin from England, painted by me. Don't remember the name, but will dig the name up in a few days.

Marine - I think the temple bits are by Scotia Grendel - I think they're on this or the next page!

Thank you Colonel Tubby for the ID of the resin pieces. I was going to dig into the box of stuff I have left to paint, to find the name. I did purchase the pieces on E bay a few years ago, at least I remembered that.  :)  Also plan to photo all six pieces to give a better look.

Went outside to take the photos. Had the perfect set up, then had to look for the stuff for the photographs. By the time I found everything the sun moved too much, (that is why you see the car in the background.)  :o  Oh well, live and learn. Mountains  made of styrofoam, cut with a hot knife. Painted a dark brown, then sprayed with flex-stone. Then I dried brushed with a couple of lighter colors.

And all those are Grendel... I must go shopping....

Also that 'flex-stone' sounds interesting - do you have a brand/company name for that? I could REALLY use some cans....

Really great scenery, only small thing that could have been improved slightly was sanding down the joins between the layers of foam - but they can be quite difficult because of the glue.
