Rackham goes AmbushZ
« on: 22 August 2011, 09:02:31 AM »
Morning, Gamers!
I'm new to this forum, so let me introduce myself:
I'm a 40 years old male from northern Germany. I've been playing war games since the 1980s and still am a devoted collector and gamer of many miniatures.
Recently I've been playing Warmachine/Hordes but I enviously am looking at the posts in this forum, since all the games are so impressing.
A few weeks ago I made an old idea come real. I wanted to reanimate my Rackham Confrontation Minis to play a game of AmbushZ. The idea was to place thin in a Cadwallon surrounding. Mid'Nor dwarves harassing a Cadwallon neighborhood is a very good theme.
But enough stumbling english: Here are some pictures:

Welcome to you, and nice looking tabletop! I don't know Ambush Z, but I've read Ambush Alley. How is it working with a hand to hand focused game?

Welcome to the Forum!
What a great way to introduce yourself.
Lovely set-up. The buildings are very clever, have given me a few ideas for my own.  :)
Many thanks!

WELCOME ABOARD...I agree that is a FINE way to introduce yourself.
The gaming board is WONDERFUL; the buildings are LOVELY...with a couple close-ups of the minis the whole thing would be perfect. All VERY WELL DONE!

Thanks a lot, folks!
Closeups of a few minis will follow for sure. And that's where the thing get's more difficult as I am not the best photographer.

Are the interiors accessible?

Greetings

No, I have to admit that those are just big chunks of outer wall insulation covered in flexible tile glue (is that really the term used in english). Then all of the other applications like windows etc have been made. So: Sorry no access possible.

Welcome to you, and nice looking tabletop! I don't know Ambush Z, but I've read Ambush Alley. How is it working with a hand to hand focused game?

It worked quite well as all the Minis I put to the table on the side of the defending citizens were carrying some sort of ranged weapons. The Mid'Nor dwarves were almost only melee fighters. The game went fast and bloody. Thats the way I like table top games to be.

With so many wonderful 15mm Zombie miniatures on the market, I am really tempted to buy some more village buildings and steal this idea  ;)

Some desperate dwarven mercenaries and a rag tag band of human knights fighting off the vile zombie hordes of the "Necromancer of Schwarzbach". Although I think I would need some more crossbows and bows.
